Thanks for your message reply. It does sound like a bit of a mess. What I am looking at is whether your UK solicitor advised you before you parted with your money. If he did then we need to look at that advice as if it is negligent he may be responsible for your losses. This approach is simpler than invloving the Spanish courts and going after the developer as the claim is dealt with in the UK and your solicitor's insurers pay. I have already had some success in this area for clients.

If your solicitor did not advise you before you parted with your money then it may be more difficult to claim. I am acting for a number of clients on a no win no fee basis and woulb be very interested to hear from anyone else who has a similar problem; is there a list of creditors anywere?

Regards

Jonathan

Dear Peter

Thanks for your reply. The pattern that I am interested in is where your UK solicitor advises you on the contract and you then pay your money over in reliance of that advice. I note your solicitor was in Devon; it was not Jonathan Ogley by any chance?  Our approach has been that had you had the correct advice then you would not have paid and lost your monies. I would be happy to speak wth you if you wish.

Regards

Jonathan

I apologise if you have already looked into this but have you considered whether you have a negligence claim against your UK solicitors if you used any. I am a UK based solicitor and act for about 60 clients who have lost money in Estepona and Manilva due to the negligence of their solicitors; these claims look promising and we are likely to make a recovery with some of them. I would be very interested to know whether you used a lawyer in the UK. If you did I would be happy to look at the advice that he gave for no charge. The fact that the purchase was over 6 years ago need not be a problem

As some of you may know I  am a lawyer and represent a group of clients in relation to claims against Conveyancing UK Solicitors. I am also claiming against another firm of solicitors,on behalf of various clients who paid money to OVP and the early signs are very promising. Please do call to discuss should you wish. Even if you believe that you may be time-barred from bringing a claim this may not be the case. I am offering a no win no fee arrangement where appropriate
