Hi,
I was out there a couple of weeks ago and work has been completed on removing the post from the middle of the road at the edge of M8 and the overhead cables leading along the beach road have now been buried underground.

There have been a few workers around checking on overhead cables and it appears a question of time before they are taken down and everything is permanently connected.

I am out there again on the 27th so will update then.

I also have not heard how the AGM went.

Hi,

not heard about the commercial units other than a rumour that San Fransisco bar bought one but I do wonder how anyone could make money there as most of the time, apart from August, its like the rest of spain - a ghost town.

would be nice to think it could be a thriving community but even some of the spanish use it as a  weekend retreat.

Hi Burundi,
You are right in assuming that.
There is a new mayor in Elche and she wants the site sorting out ASAP.
Of course the progress is halted for the long summer holiday but the word on the street was that maybe, just maybe September for habitation certificates which you and I know probably means December .
There may be the issue of people who have extended or increased the footprint of their properties paying a penalty.

It's a guessing game but hopefully by 2013 all will be legal!

I gave up on this site due to the mega negativity and pointless speculation, the dissing of people who were pushed into responsibility that they did neither want nor desire by others who look from afar. Anyone who has an overseas property who think that they can live without paying community charges whether in turkey, Ireland or Spain is deluding themselves. Taxes, utility bills etc have to be paid regardless of where your property is. You cannot live in isolation from the community that you bought into. If you bought another property in England you would be hit by exactly the same but at more cost. One day it will be completed then there will be truly nothing for people to complain about!
