Hi all,
We used The Halifax in Torrevieja, their service was excellent. Iberian don't like them because they do things "The British Way" (i.e. all the I's dotted and the T's crossed) before they release any money. They also will not take cash for the builder when completing and recommend you don't either (do you fancy walking the streets with £7000 in your pocket, another reason Iberian don't like them) they give the builder a credit note for him to collect the cash part of the deal from them, the builder seemed ok with this.
We also had no problem with Aroca, between Paul the manager of the Halifax, the solicitors, the builders and ourselves we sorted it out. Iberian didn't want to know as we were not using one of their recomended banks and "you'll only have problems if you use a bank we haven't recommended" The Halifax even sorted out he insurance for us with Zurich which was quite reasonable.
So the upshot is we used Aroca and the Halifax and had no problems with either, in fact the people at the Halifax went out of their way to be of help. Our only problems have been with Iberian.
Hope this is of help
see you soon Karen & Neil
