I certainly didn't say "they don't do many checks!!!!". They get your experian credit report and check your income, accounts and bank statements to make sure you can afford it.  They just don't go over the top like some UK banks we have dealt with asking for every little detail.

Just wanted to give the other side of the story.  I would highly recommend a Spanish mortgage.  Just been down that route and couldn't decide to pay cash or mortgage.  Bought lovely villa for £170,000 euros on Mar Menor Golf Resort. But as they were offering excellent 100% mortgage deal and very low interest rates seemed crazy not to take it, if only for a few years. There are NO early repayment fees so we can pay money off as and when we want. Also the arranging of the mortgage was hassle free compared to the great hassle we had in the UK of arranging our last mortgage. The bank in Spain was so much more informal and pleasant to deal with - and very quick too.  Didn't ask for nearly as much paperwork as the UK bank we dealt with.

Hi all

I'm thinking about buying an apartment on CdA given the news of the Paramount theme park due to be built on the land next door but wonder if any owners have any advice? Would you advise this or warn against a purchase on the resort? There seems to be a large amount of Polaris properties in the Murcia area.  Does this mean they are difficult to let as holiday lets because of the competition or is there quite good rental potential?  Also is there much open on the resort as it stands at the moment?

Hi I'm thinking of buying on one of these resorts La Torre/Mar Menor and wondered how many weeks a year on average you manage to rent out your property (if you rent it out!).  There seems to be a lot of property and so I thought with there being so much competition it might be difficult to let? Also which of these resorts would you say is best for families as I am wanting to use the villa as a holiday home too. Would really appreciate any advice, thanks.
