has anybody seen details of a local car hire co. We saw a sticker on an older car last september. I think it was something like uk car rentals. A neighbour used them and said they dont charge excess and full full fuel is standard. I wish i had written the name down

i agree that Campasol isnt 5 star, i was intrigued bythe recent prices,until i heard the stories about build quality.have also heard rumour that many are still on builders electric!!!!!! i certainly would not be happy to live there, however, the amenities are very welcome in comparison to CdA.

For those who are satisfied to have 1 bar, 1 restaurant as long as its Polaris, give it time!!!! when i visited in November i was outraged by the service given by the bar staff in Foro. when we used cushions to sit on the terrace, the waiter came to retrieve them claiming that where we were sitting belonged to the restaurant. we asked what time the restaurant opened..... 2 weeks was the reply. our response (in spanish) was well when the restaurant opens, we will move. he replied well its rainingin Murcia so the cushions had to go inside!!!!!! we laughed so much.

what im saying is i agree with Darren, no one expects to give less than their best but Polaris have made promises that they have failed to keep. it will be interesting to see how things progress.

what i do know is that the region of Murcia is keen to establish their tourist trade in the area and are putting a lot of support to the development . it just may not happen overnight. dont forget the new airport is still ontrack for completion this year.

i agree with Darren Wilkes, hoorah for the end of Polaris, and their 'over promise, under deliver' mentality. with multiple developers of course their will be better competition and more importantly more freedom. was anyone aware that only Polaris were permitted to open bars and restaurants, i know of a local spanish businessman who was offered a commercial site at CdA as long as he didnt open a bar, restaurant or sell any goods that competed with a Polaris outlet !!!!! he considered a church for a moment but decided not to take up the option.

my point is that i for one will be glad to see the back of Polaris. location is key with this site, when renting out, i have to advise clients that a rental car is essential. for all intense purposes we are in the middle of nowhere. i admit offplan is risky, however, i do not think that 1 bar, 1 shop, and 1 restaurant (still to open on my last visit nov 09) is anywhere near acceptable relating back to the Polaris sales pitch, and this, more than a year after they had my balance payment.

to blame this on the global economy is nonsense, 1 issue with offplan is this, they have your money before they even break ground. if they got there sums wrong thats their problem, not the fault of an economic downturn.

with Polaris (RIP) out of the way, perhaps we can look forward to local, friendly, diverse outlets thriving within the community.
