We have just returned home after a wonderful visit to San Juan.  CDP is very quiet and it would be nice if they opened the road through now,  Mar y Luna do a great Full English Brekkie, black pudding too for discerning breakfasters  and very reasonable cost.

The Chinese Bazaar is amazing,is there anything you cant get in there??? Take a large basket!!

Pepas new Pub looks fantastic, seems to be really popular already and Pepas garlic prawns are still food for the soul!!

The new road system past the Calypso is confusing but the development is coming on very well,

Weve only had a week this time, not long enough , and hope to return for longer in a few weeks.

Look forward to meeting some of our neighbours later in the summer.

Cheers!

Sue and Michael

Hello

Weve recently returned from a brilliant two week visit to our house on phase two. We originally  didnt intend to travel in August but we found it delightful  in San Juan, despite the high temperature which averaged about 35 degrees.   We had aircon fitted in the lounge only but will be installing it in the bedrooms next year as we found it difficult to sleep even with our ceiling fans which are good for the cooler seasons. The town was busy and the little shops open, we bought chairs and umbrellas and enjoyed days on the beach with our picnics, returning to buy pizza in the evening and enjoy the market.  The Ice Cream shop was buzzing until well after midnight with families and babies asleep in their buggies. Pepas was alive at all hours and great fun on Saturday afternoon with families eating amazing Paellas.

After sitting in the back area last visit, this time we decided to move out front along with our  Spanish neighbours, we purchased table and chairs and altho we didnt have our tv out there as many of the spanish families do, we really enjoyed our meals and wine sitting watching the world pass by, it was wonderful!  Our plant has survived and is growing well in our garden!

We went up to the castle which now has its own  bar/cafe where you can have a drink and watch the sunset  over San Juan .Our daughter and partner visited, Rosie is expecting a baby in October so we found the level walkways to the beach really helpful and again our sincere thanks to Stuart and Denise who fitted extra stairrails and bathroom grabrails,  which proved to be invaluable help for Rosie, and for us all.

We met our  lovely neighbours Mick and Julie who also had visitors, so many a good chat and glass of wine was enjoyed over the garden fence! We too found the pools much bigger than we expected, and it will also be good when you can walk through the middle of the development to the town, making it quicker and easier to get to the beach from the top phases.

We are so pleased with it all, we cant wait to return and look forward to meeting more of our friends from this forum who have helped keep us going and are now enjoying their houses and San Juan.  It doesnt get better than this I dont think!

kindest regards

Sue and Michael

Hi

We have recently returned from our first visit to our new house on phase two. We drove for ten hours from Santander, a long but scenic journey, arriving at midnight.  We walked through our front door and were speechless, the house is beautiful.  We are so impressed, it is bigger than we had imagined and the fittings are first class.

We cannot praise highly enough the efficient professional service provided by Stuart and Denise.  When we arrived the house was immaculate, clean , lights fitted,  all beds installed,  and everything working perfectly. They completed our  list of requirements to our complete satisfaction, and gave time and effort to finding our special requests.  We have a  king size memory foam mattress which is fantastic  and good for Asthma allergy, and also Stuart arranged to have fitted our full lenth shower screen in the downstairs bathroom which is superb and gives extra space in the shower - excellent as we have a daughter expecting a baby!

The views from the roof terrace of the mountains as we are north facing, are wonderful.  We met lovely neighbours Mavis and Bill who welcomed us and helped us immediately feel at home.

The work on phase four onwards at the time had stopped and was fenced off so that it was not possible to walk through the communal areas.  But phase one to three was clean, tidy and very pretty with the trees and flowers. Most of our neighbours are Spanish and very friendly, the children play on their scooters and the families sit in the front garden at tables and chairs, chatting in the warm sunshine.

We ate frequently at Pepas, the food is good and the wine even better!

After a long wait at last we have our place in the sun and we are delighted.  Our thanks to all who helped make the dream come true and for those who are still waiting, its worth it.  San Juan is a beautiful place.

Looking forward to meeting more new friends

Sue and Michael

Hello Mick and Pam,

Thank you for your reply and also to Rowleyhouse and Randolph.  We probably have to go with the power of attorney as one of us could travel  to sign but for medical reasons I cannot travel  by air until the Spring.

We are trying to do this as soon as we can and have made initial enquiries to a reliable solicitor  and notary who  we hope will deal with this and the necessary translations.  We do have our NIE numbers.

The reason we dont want to delay is because there are problems with la tercia real, its been closed down, and we want to complete quickly.

Thank you all for your help and advice, much appreciated and look forward to meeting you soon!

We are completing on our property on phase two  by power of attorney as unable to travel to spain at the moment.  We know we have to specify its just for completion  only  and go to the spanish embassy in London, but would appreciate any comments or information  , if anyone has completed this way.

regards

Sue and Michael
