Hi
Just back from a hol staying at Mazarron Country Club.
We stayed in a bungalow and assume it will be similar to the Tarifa we have purchased on ACC. Met some lovely people who shared the experience of Mararron and Huma.
We tried to find ACC but it has been 2yrs since our first visit and we couldnt find the site, (which was a little worrying). My husband went to see the Co ordinator for Mazarron with a view to contacting Huma for an update, she advised us that we needed and appointment with Huma and his office was situated on Mazarron Country Club. Humas assistant Claudia seemed very positive that the go ahead would be September, (I know she has to be and we have heard it all before), she gave us receipts for the monies Huma has received which is only 15% (Masa has been holding on the the other 35%, which has annoyed us somewhat). She explained that the site would not be downsized at all, and that Huma would probably not be pushing too hard to the final stage payment when the development it finished due to the problems. She advised that Huma may offer compensation. All in all my husband came away with a positive feeling that it would all work - if we can just all hang on and stay positive.
Speaking to various locals at Mazarron I have found out that one lady put her money down in 2000 and 7 years on no shops have been built, they only have a country club (which I thought seemed a bit dirty and dated), 3 tennis courts and a communal swimming pool which costs residents and visitors 4 euros each per visit. ( aparently the pool is not owned by residents it is owned by Country Club - this is also common with a few other developments). The residents are non too happy about this.
I saw an advert for the sale of the shop on the MCC TV station, so I presume once they have a buyer for the shop it will be built, as this is how it seems to work.
My husband has asked Claudia to find out if this is the case for ACC.
The golf course still isnt build, it is still a piece of waste land. Apparently Huma never had planning permission for this.
The Mazarron Country Club took Huma to court and won the case, and Huma has had to put a bond to one side approx 2 million to cover the cost of the Golf Course (I assume that they have permission now) Huma has a time scale to build the course and if he doesnt the residents can take the money and get someone else to build this for them.
The front line Villas overlooking the course aparently have received some compensation which has been up to £10K
The are still running on building site facilities and therefore have not had to pay any maintenance fees yet. They pay rates which is approx £130 per year (unsure if that is english or irish pounds). Aparently the builders have changed since the development started and some of the villas were still being finished off. Our Individual Pool was cleaned twice weekly and they charge 15 euros per week. The lady that I spoke to said they used to have a bus that went to the beach but she was unsure if that was still running.
They have a security guard who regularly patrols the site.
Oh and I think when people are trying to get there money back, Huma is re directing them to Mazarron country club (so he is winning everyway) but aparently the resales on the development are approx £10K cheaper and are furnished and gardens finished.
I hope the info that I have shared has been helpful, we really enjoyed our stay at Mazarron Country club and can see that ACC will be much better but I bet it will be a number of years before the whole site is fully finished. (assuming it ever gets started)
We are looking forward to this starting this year, I am trying to find out which solicitor the MCC used the owners apparently per house paid approx 100 euros then a final payment of approx 200 euros into a legal fund.
I agree that we stand as a community.

Our tarifa should have been finished May 2007
