Hi All

I moved in to my apartment in Suites last week. I had to use builders electricity and water for the 3 days I stayed there. My electricity meter has since been connected. There were not many apartments in Suites occupied while I was there. It does appear mortgages are going through in the last 2/3 weeks but at a slow pace. I was due to complete last May but only did so on the 12th Sept.

The golf course is not in good condition at the moment but it is due to maintenenace work being carried out on the course. All tee boxes were out of play because some were being resodded and others were poleforked and sanded. There is also work  being done on a lot of the fairways where they appear to be removing the very coarse grasses. This work looks unsightly as they have left the sods and dead grass in place. It appears to me that they will repair these areas over the next week or so. Whether they reseed or resod  I dont know but each fairway could have up to 6/7 of these areas. The only good thing is they are doing the work and it can only be done around this time as the summer is so hot. Generally a lot of courses in spain do their work around the end of sept so I am not to worried at the moment. I will be going back in Feb. and I am keeping my fingers crossed that the improvement continues. I dont know when you are going in November but if you do I'm sure you will fill us in. I took out the life membership when I bought the apartment and I have been given 2 years free golf from the day I completed on my apartment. My own belief is that the golf club membership and apartment completion sales are slow, which is having some effect on the spend overall on the golf course. Before you go I would contact the club to see if the tee boxes are in play and have the coarse grass areas been repaired. The greens themselves were not bad and work may be due on them in the next few weeks.

The course was quite busy in the late evenings and the players were mainly Spanish. It was quite hot there during the day last week. Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning were quite busy. The bar is the only game in town at the moment and it stayed open until about 10pm and a number of players/families dined there. The language college does appear to be very busy with plenty of buses going in and out.

I know you only asked about the golf course but I know others on the forum will be interested overall. I am disappointed it has taken so long but I am happier than I was in May. At least I have an apartment. There are a lot of  apartment shells down Between Estapona and Benalmadena which will never see completion for at least 5 years if ever.

Hi All

Just back from Elvira Medina today. I am buying in Suites and all the main work is now complete. Swimming pools are both complete. Golf Club restaurant IS open and was in good demand for lunch last sunday. My wife and I had lunch and it was first class. The weather was quite bad and very few people appeared to be playing due to the rain. There has been a lot of rain over the winter and it has broken a lot of records.

My apartment is finished and is awaiting the white goods to be fitted. I was in the apartment and everything looks good. There was lighting in the corridors but none in the apartment. There is some work still to be done on some of the gardens of Suites but this is not possible at the moment due to the wet weather.  A lot of work has been done on fencing , flowerbeds, shrubs etc around Suites and the clubhouse since the last time I was there.. The lift from the course to the clubhouse level is working.

I was told The licence of occupation is due March/April and the delay is due to local elections and a new mayor being elected. I cant say whether this is true or not. According to my solicitor I will also have to resubmit my details to the bank to take over the mortgage.

The restaurant at the entrance is called Romero's and is excellent also.

Famroc from suites here. I think Seagulls suggestion of  saying which part of the development you are buying into will be very worthwhile and should be quite informative. I am not sure how the development is broken up between the different developers but I have received about 6 letters in the last 18 months and last week received the first newsletter from Grupo Balboa. Two of those letters were invitations to play golf ,have dinner and see how the development was progressing. Unfortunately, I was unable to take them up on either offer. I am lucky to be able to visit Spain about twice a year and drive up from Malaga when I can.

Its takes around an hour and a half to drive from near Fuengirola and about 75 min from Malaga airport. For those living in the UK and can fly direct to Granada - it takes less than 15 minutes from that airport. You will not encounter any traffic light once you leave the airport as it is all motorway/dual carriageway. When you leave the carriageway you are in the countryside and its about 5k to the resort. I am writing this to let other members of the site know how easy it is to get there. Any of you buying there should try your utmost to visit Medina and view for yourself how your apartment is going. I appreciate that in the present climate this will not be so easy for many but if you cant go - perhaps ask a friend or relative to go. The alhambra is only a short distance away and could be combined with the visit.

Hi

As someone who was out there at the beginning of the month I am not surprised that Suites is near completion. When I talk about medina golf I do not mean every apartment block or apartment on the development. Sometimes I think we are talking about a different place. Its important that people remember how many different blocks there are and some are nearer to completion than others in my opinion. I reported this in an earlier comment. I am buying in Suites and I will be shocked if suites is not completed in the next few weeks. I have been inside and seen my apartment and the only thing left to complete was the wooden floor in the lounge and bedroom. Everything was wired and plumbed for the electrical goods. Heating and A/C was installed. The garden (I am on the ground floor) was not finished as they wanted to know did I want grass or tiles. As we were leaving the workmen had returned from their siesta to finish off the tiles on the terraces, swimming pool and general landscaping around the clubhouse.. Perhaps there are other buyers on Tee 17 and Fairways can give us an up to date position on their blocks.

With regard to the other blocks I only viewed them from the golf course and reported as I saw them. The important thing to remember is the building is still going on. Its not the same on many other developments in Spain and other countries.
