Thanks. Unfortunately you cannot choose one country or another. I do tax returns in both countries and don't  mind that providing I get double taxation relief,. I have got a second opinion now and am told you don't have to pay this tax in Spain as I felt sure to be the case! Regards Exile

My Spanish Tax advisor tells me when doing My annual return that the Spanish authorities will tax my State Pension received in UK without tax and not liable for it. I am a Spanish resident with all my income stemming from the UK nothing from Spain at all. This strikes me as grossly unfair and I wonder whether other ex-pats suffer from this? Seems reasonable to inform the Press and maybe the European Court. I have not seen it anywhere in articles about living in Spain. Exile
