hmmm.....well some interesting points raised so thank you...

We are still interested in buying but have hit a bit of a brick wall regarding money..or rather the large amount of 'cash' needed to start off with for deposits etc Mortgage repayments will not be a problem but it's getting that mortgage to start with, so we continue to research and hope to find a lender who will offer a 100% mortgage, unlikely in the current climate??

I think somewhere down the thread ages ago someone asked what my requirements were.. well we want a holiday home rather than moving completely so renting isn't really an option and although coastal would be nice not essential in fact we are coming around to the idea of countryside and open spaces. So probably somewhere between the two

thanks bobaol that means a lot. It's very hard starting out on when (I admit) we have no idea what we are doing! All we know is we want to enjoy the lifestyle for holidays and hopefully retirement, its one of those things you talk about all the time and never do anything about...well life is too short so we want to go for it. I am glad to have found this site and have been trawling my way through and any help about estate agents, developers etc would be helpful (when I am allowed lol)

thanks again and goodstitch I do also appreciate your comments it helps me keep my feet on the ground and not get carried away with the romance of it all

thanks for your reply...we feel a bit naive at the moment as we don't know Spain very well, our original plan was to buy in Orlando which we love but we don't feel we would get the use of it as we are tied to school hols so looking closer to home now. Hopefully as I read through the posts I will get a feel for which areas are recommended before we go out there to research further

Thanks again

Emma

Hi everyone I am new on here and have been browsing just over a week. My hubby and I are looking to buy a place in Spain - Costa Blanca or Costa Calida is top of the list at the mo but it's such a minefield so I am hoping to research and pick up lots of info from your good selves on here.
