As others have said, pickpockets are everywhere not just in Spain. I am contently asking my wife to zip up her hand bag and carry it in a different way especially in crowds. I still live in the UK but now carry my cards separately from my  cash so if I do fall foul of a pickpocket I will not lose everything .

Hi,
One problem you may have with changing your sockets to UK 3 pin even in part, will mean that your electrics may not meet Spanish standards. This in turn my invalidate house hold insurance if you ever needed to make a claim that in anyway may be connected, such as an electrical fire.

I travel a lot round the world so for my laptop I carry a fused adapter that fits every country. A fused adapter will cost more, but will be cheaper than replacing burnt out kitchen gadgets or replacing Spanish sockets with UK ones.

Hi Sofia,

I noticed in your last post the comments regarding the furniture and white goods package that comes with each of the apartments. While I was out in August/September 08 a large delivery of furniture and white goods packages turned up, and were unloaded and taken into various apartments (I am sorry I cannot say which ones).  I was surprised to see this after the builder apparently doing a bunk at the time. I can only assume that some of the empty apartments do now have the furniture in, but those living on sites might no more.

Telemicro were picking up the English Sky signal then rebroadcasting it to individual customers illegally.

To pick up UK sky direct and not rerouted via another company you need a very large dish as the signal will not be as strong as in the UK.. I have spoken to one company who said that they could put a dish on the Roof and connect 12 sky boxes to this one dish.  

If anyone is interested in doing this then let me know.

Some more not so good news.

Just had this email from my key holders.

Hi Everyone
 
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but for those of you who have UK TV, then today the plug as been pulled with Telemicro and everthing is down.  Rumour is that the offices were raided by the Guardia Civil, today and staff outside in handcuffs.
 
Further rumours are that other companies will be being 'chased' by Guardia Civil so it is only a matter of time.
 
There is some info on the Algorfa forum and others but nothing more than what I have told you already.
