Hi Frank,
I'm not in exactly the same profession, but I know a couple of retirees in Spain who continue to work remotely for clients in their home country. The key thing is making sure everything is declared correctly for tax and residency purposes.
If your accountancy work is for clients outside Spain and you're planning to become a Spanish tax resident, I would strongly recommend speaking with a Spanish gestor or tax adviser before making the move. The rules can be quite different from the UK, and what seems straightforward can become complicated once social security, income tax, and residency requirements are involved.
From what I've seen, people who take professional advice early usually avoid a lot of headaches later. Spain is a wonderful place to retire, but it's much easier if you have a clear understanding of the legal and tax implications of continuing to work.
Good luck with your plans, and I hope you and Katherine find the right solution.
