Hi Anne etc ,

If any of you pay €225 for the digibox Cabletec in Spain provide , then you will be paying well over double the price.

Spain is VERY EXPENSIVE for Sky equipment  as Sky UK does not support Sky TV in Spain.

The model Cabletec Spain provide for €299 on their website  is the OLD Sky Box , model DS430N.

The latest model that Sky provide for new installations is the DS440N which can be sourced and shipped directly to Spain from as little as £119 if you choose to have the latest version.

The DS430N digibox is now obsolete but saying that  , it  will function perfectly well in Spain but  it defo can be sourced cheaper than €225 , approx for €99 or less inc remote , power cord and scart lead.

Any SKY digibox , which the DS430N is one of  , can pick up free to view transmissions once connected to the Sky satellite dish.

The BBC (every region in the UK) , ITV and CBeebies all went free to view prior 2005 ,

IE : anyone with a Sky digibox without a card can get these channels.

If you want Channel 4 , Film 4 / +1 and Channel 5 in Spain , then you will have to purchase a FREE TO VIEW card. These cost £21 from Sky direct but you must have a UK address to activate them.

Alternatively there are websites which can provide cards already ACTIVATED if you cannot get them directly from the UK.

Please contace me directly if you need any further info !

Buenos Dias Paco ,

This communication ONLY reaches those who know about and read updates on the Eye On Spain website.

I was not aware that this was a formal means of communication for the community.

How are the administrators requesting payment from owners not aware of this site ?

I believe it's critical at this stage to contact EVERY owner on the Sky list and ensure they are aware payment is due ASAP.

Otherwise I very much doubt anyone will have Sky installed this side of Summer 07.

Thanks !!!

Hi Guy's ,

I've done some research on digiboxes and most installers recommend the Pace DS430N for Europe and especially Spain which is well away from the Sky footprint epicentre. This model has a low signal threshold and ideal for picking up Sky in countries where the signal is weaker.

This is the digibox also recommended by the company which are going to install the system in La Hacienda , Cabeltec TV. http://www.cabletec.tv/Digiboxes.html

€400 - €500 , seems a little steep to me for a Digibox.

Before you spend that sort of money check out http://www.uk-satellite-tv.co.uk/index.html

You can buy both digiboxes (£99 - £119 DS430N ) and sky cards (free-to view £47) on this site and they will ship to Spain direct if required, read customer feedback section.

Some interesting points to note :

Freesat or free-to-view cards are fully interchangeable between different receivers.

A viewing card is not essential. All Sky digiboxes can be used to receive free-to-air TV and radio channels. This includes all BBC and ITV channels as well as almost all radio channels.
A  free-to-view or Freesat card can be used to receive Channel Four and Channel Five without subscription, in addition to the free-to-air channels such as BBC and ITV.
A Sky subscription card can add any combination of Sky channels to the channels described above. Sky subscriptions start at £15.00 a month.
Alternatively , check out Ebay auctions ... I've just purchased my Pace DS430N  for £47 !!!!
That's right , complete with power cord , scart lead and Sky remote control ... A bargain !
Also if you're not brave enough to bid , you can select the "Buy It Now" option , roughly £49.99 + p/p
Happy Bidding !
