Hi - does anyone know of any car rental firms at Malaga Airport that don't insist on the Hire Full, Return Empty fuel policy?  I usually use Centauro but they have no availability 5 - 11 Feb. Thanks in advance. Maggie

Hi Andy

We looked in Leroy Merlins for a shower screen but could not find any that were the correct size.  In the end we just bought heavy duty plastic curtains which look fine. (Plus cleaners say its much easier to maintain!).  I think Brian (Kyleman) got purpose built shower screens so you should contact him.

We got a local (English) electrician to do the light fittings and it cost approx 150euros for fitting all the lights in our 2-bed apartment.  Let me know if you want his number.

Regards

Margaret

We are new to EOS, just been given details by Brian (Kyleman).  Very useful site!

Took occupancy in early July and spent entire week of our 'holiday' shopping - buying furniture, electricals, crockery, bedding, etc.  We had originally hoped to buy a furniture package from RNA (based in Estepona) who were very helpful but they kept pressing for a signature and deposit.  However our lawyer was insistent on us not signing until she accepted the property on our behalf.  This meant that we were unable to complete with RNA because they needed a month's notice.

So we did it ourselves.  We probably saw this coming because the few times we had been there over the previous year, we had been looking at furniture in the local stores and liked what we saw.  It was an extremely busy week - arranging an electrician to do the lights, spending every day going round shops - but we are very pleased with what we have achieved.  It has saved us a lot of money doing it ourselves, although not so restful a holiday!

While we were there our lawyer arranged a Spanish will, which is an essential if you own property there.

We have been told (cannot remember by whom) that the road link will be completed this year - not so sure about this as it would need to be quite a structure.

All-in-all we are delighted with our property.  There have been one or two glitches, eg the connection to the satellite system.  The snagging list has been dealt with with the exception of one or two small items.

We have made contact with a couple who are planning on doing holiday lets in the development when it is complete and also found some English cleaners.

We purchased in July '04, not to make a quick profit, but to enjoy the property and Spain in the years to come - we did hear from some people that they had bought multi properties, but with the downturn in the market became increasingly concerned and chose to sell on.  The valuation we received for our 2 bedroom apartment was exceptional - although it would be  a different story selling at this price and in the current sales climate.

We are back over there end of August to do some finishing touches and hopefully have a more relaxing holiday!  Happy to offer advice to anyone who wishes to go down the route we took and do their own furnishing,
