Hi,

Does anyone know at what point you stop being liable for inheritance tax in Spain after leaving the country?

Having lived in Spain for 10 years, if you then leave, do you remain liable for inheritance tax for a time on money and house (located in the UK) left by a parent (who lives, and has always lived in the UK). This isn´tactually my case I´m very pleased to say, but I would like to know out of interest.

Hi,

Regarding the new requirement to exchange or renew a UK driving licence.
I would prefer to renew my UK driving licence rather than exchange for a Spanish one as I will be leaving Spain this year. I have a couple of questions.

1. I don't have a photocard licence, I have the UK old pink/green paper licence valid until 2038. Can I renew this type of licence?
2. If it can be renewed, what do they do with it. Do they stamp it or something, do I get to keep it?

Hola

I am planning to leave Spain for good  in the next month or two.  I've searched previous expat threads and it looks like the deregistration with police, padron and medical card is quite easy. The problem may come up with the deregistration for tax in hacienda. I've read that I will need to provide a residency certificate from another country for them to deregister me and get it translated etc. In my case I'm not going straight back to UK, but planning to spend some time with friends in France and then maybe go to Asia travelling but I'm not really decided.

So how do you fill in the form if you don't know?
What would happen if I just didn't do it?

I'd prefer to do it properly and get off the Spanish system rather than just clearing off and leave it hanging, but they don't make it easy for you tbh.
