If you want to do it yourself then a place to consider looking is Leroy Merlin in Grand Plaza in Roquetas. They have a reasonable range of prices and styles.

To get an idea of what they stock you can look at http://www.leroymerlin.es/

It is in Spanish but bathroom is baño which is at the top of the menu on the left.

You can take things home in your car if it is big enough or you can have it delivered (at a price).

There are also many other bathroom fitting shops in El Ejido and Roquetas. One example is Newlar in El Ejido. Go straight on at the roundabout with the massive tower in El Ejido (rather than turn left for the main street) and the shop is at the end of the road on the right. They insist on fitting the shower screens themselves but you can fit your own base if you wish. The reason they insist is that they give a guarantee on the fittting. They are not cheap but  have some more up market stuff compared with Leroy Merlin.

From personal experience renting our 1 bed apartment in Almerimar for the last few years you can probably get good occupation in July and August and pick up a few weeks the rest of the year.  So 12-15 weeks sounds reasonable as long as the rental price is not too high.

A couple of things to bear in mind:

1. The credit crunch may mean that less people may be looking to go on overseas holidays in the coming year. Guess we will have to wait and see.

2. There is a lot of newish property in the Almerimar area so the number of people looking to rent out is growing so it is getting to be quite a competitive market now.

Another alternative that some people here are going for is long term rental. Say for a period of a year. Not too much money per month but at least it it something on a regular basis. If you are considering this route it might be worth contacting one of the local estate agents in Almerimar to ask about how much you might get and how much they would charge to do the property management on a long term rental (including making sure that the tennants pay the rent and the bills).

Went along to the first night of the 2 day free Bolero & South American music event. Venue has changed to the Brisamar Sports Ground should anyone want to go tomorrow.  Near the new  La Barbera restaurant and Spirit Mar on the way to the nature reserve.

Hopefully tomorrow night will start a little closer to the stated 10pm start time.
