Checked situation with Iberdrola who provided following response:
"Responding to your last communication, we inform you that you invoices are now monthly because your distribution company installed a smart meter in your property; as this device provides constant readings of the property, the engineers do not need to take the readings physically and therefore we can invoice your contracts on monthly basis."
