I have now spoken to someone at the bank and if I want to use internet banking I have to go into any bank of theirs and they will arrange it. Meanwhile, I can't use email to pay bills or transfer money within Spain. My arrangement was with Lola and Beatriz and not with them. They appear to be trying to be very security conscious. Transferring sterling from here to my euro account will still work.
However, I have seen that I do have new bank account numbers which include a new branch number. I assume these are linked to the old a counts.
