Hello to all my name is Steve, my company is Paint Busters, many of you I would of done work for, I believe approximately 80 in total, as an ex Police officer from the UK, I relocated to Spain 5 years ago, and I live within a 5 minute drive of the CDS site, I would like to help and advise any person concerned about security on the CDS site.
I have been working on CDS Apartments for the past year now and have encountered a whole host of problems regarding the security to many of the apartments and Communal areas, please let me explain a few measures that can and should be taken for your own piece of mind, alot of the measures are common sense, owners of apartments on the CDS site are mainly in the UK and Ireland, this is not always as easy when you are so far away. These are a few steps that could be taken.
1. Full perimeter security fence around block complexes, I know this was part of the sale but as you probably know by now that you are fighting a lost cause.
2. Having a reputable security company to patrol the site on a regular basis not just sitting in the security hut at the front of the urbanisation.
3. Take your own security of your apartment by installing window locks, locks for patio doors and changing the original front door lock from when you purchased your apartment, also ensure shutters/blinds on patio doors are closed and windows are locked when you leave the property.
4. If you do rent your apartment out, ensure the rental agencies inform the tenants to be security conscious and to carry out above when leaving apartments.
5. If you do park your car either in the garages or on the Urbanisation roads, ensure they are locked at all times, breaks to cars have happened on the street, once occupants have arrived and within minutes resulting in property taken.
6. It is also advisable to install a safe in one of the bedroom wardrobes, (bolted from inside the safe, to the floor), for all valuables when you are visiting as items such as passports, credit cards, driving licences cash, jewellery or any easy to carry small valuables have been taken whilst owners and guests have been visiting.
7. Ensure if you are renting your property out or keys are held with a management company, that they carry out REGULAR checks on your property, thats what you pay them for, and I can say certain properties are NOT being checked as regular as they should be.
These are just a few pointers to put minds at ease, I know all owners are worried about the security and I will be happy to advise or help anybody on the urbanisation if they require any further information.
