Hi steveouk, I haven't actually been able to fix it. I'm waiting for F-Secure to update their virus signatures as it isn't really a virus, just a slight nusiance.mI'm surprised they haven't foxed it already seeing as Google is quite a well known company

You should be able to see something like this by selecting "View system information" from the "System tasks" menu on the left of "My Computer". But as you say if there is no free space you will either need to delete some files from your laptop or failing that, buy a bigger hard-disk drive.

Hi Mike,

To find out which service pack you have:

Click your mouse over the [Start] button

Right-Click My Computer and select Properties from the pop-up menu.

On the "General" Tab under System: It should tell you which service pack has been installed, and it should say "Service Pack 3"

It will also tell you how much RAM (Random Access Memory) there is in your laptop. I would want at least 2GB of RAM.

Hope that helps.

Pat.

Does your laptop have the latest service pack? Service Pack 3. I am assuming that the operating system is Windows XP. If so. have you applied all the Windows updates that are available? There are a lot...

4 years old is quite old these days for  a laptop but should be ok for Word unless your documents have many pages then you might run into some issues.

Re, your memory stick. I would recommend saving your documents there anyway as a backup in case something happens to your laptop. It can be replaced but maybe the same cannot be said for all your documents.

How severe does Spybot classify the "inrtuders"?

Hi Mike,

When does the error message appear? Are you running a specific program? You seem to imply that the message is displayed when you are running Microsoft Word. Is that correct? You should be able to buy more memory if there is a spare slot in your laptop. Is the laptop a "new" laptop or just new to you. Ie, second-hand or refurbished? Do you have anti-virus software running on your laptop. Slow running could be a symptom of a virus infection.

Pat.
