Thank you Emily and Smiley, that's as my main worry not living in uk for so long, have no property there nothing, no accounts there is no such thing here in UAE as a credit check but I can go to police station and get a letter from them to verify me and my accounts here etc. will see how it all goes.

Confused now for more research , are the solicitors that bad? I'm thinking I'll need to get someone as I won't be in Spain all the time it's a bit of a trek from UAE to Spain so will be over initially but then will have to do rest from here.

I will definitely search out a reputable solicitor, I don't want any surprises when I eventually get to retire and will happily spend the money needed to make sure all is above board.

Thanks I thought it might be an issue.

I will see as I may not need to take a mortgage which would be better, maybe an option if needed to loan the money from my own bank herer rather than to try and get a spanish mortgage and just buy cash.
