I am confused by a number of points:

1.  How can people be quoting such low fares.  Ryanair charge you to pay, they charge you for bags each way (15kg only !), they charge you to check in both ways even if you do it online and then there is all the taxes.... and if your madthere is also "priority" boarding.  So how can people quote such low prices?

2.  Statistically speaking if you look at revenue per customer, Ryanir is not cheap compared to other airlines.

3.  I fly with them when there is no other option.  ie. No Spain or fly Ryanair = I choose Ryanair.  People should not confuse this with me "loving" the airline.  When I have a choice I fly Jet2 or BA (although I do miss the seat scramble and all round yellowness).

Am I alone?

A couple of points to clarify with respect to some of the earlier posts:

1.  If a Spanish bank collapses and you have a mortgage with them it is not a problem.  A mortgage is not "repayable on demand" therefore you will have no reason to panic.  Contrastingly, if you have savings with a bank that collapses you may well need to worry.

2.  Argentina defaulted and then its currency dropped in value.  I do not understand those that do not think it can happen or those that do not seem to grasp what the implications are if it does happen.

I am another person who claimed on my bank guarantee.  It cost quite a lot in fees however - apparently my lawyer is now chasing Interlaken for compensation with respect to these.  Did anyone else incur hefty legal costs?  Is anybody else suing Interlaken for them back?

Any thoughts welcome.

Thanks.

If the Euro contiunes to strenghten then how does that effect us Norman????????

Also, there is no way Germany or France would hold up under parity and as we know Spain is already dipping.

As for the continued doom and gloom yes we are in the middle of a correction and there is a time delay.  i.e. planning consents are falling but there is a two - three year time lag between planning and completion of new builds.  Once we get through this time lag supply should dip to even out more with demand and then the recovery can start.

Demographic and migrant predictions suggest long term growth however.  More tourists and more migrants will be in Spain in the coming years than ever before.  Other economic factors may also help Spanish tourist demand - for example continuing to up air fuel surcharchages based on distance.

So in short I do not predict long term doom and gloom (short term yes).

One thing I do agree on (based on historical precedents) is that poorer builders, agents ang general cowboys suffer most and comeback weaker/less when corrections take place.  Higher quality and financially sound institutions will do best long term as a result.  A good thing!

Kind Regards

I regret to to say that I believe there is no chance it will be ready this summer.  In the current climate Interlaken are focusing on selling and completing on only two of their sites.  Neither of these sites is Casares Del Sol Suites.
