Both me and a friend used Victor at MAM Solicitors who have an office just off the square in Vera.

Victor's team successfully retrieved monies from Bank Guarantees (BG's) over a period of about 8 weeks in the summer of 2008.

We did not receive interest or the deposit from Huma as at the time Victor did not believe even with a court ruling we would actually get any money paid from Huma. He did say in the future it might be worth several clients joining forces to retrieve the deposits and possible compensation IF Huma ever started paying out. Luckily for us all, the Euro strength has meant that the returned BG's covered the loss of the deposits and legal fees.

Off memory MAM Solicitors charges was approx €1200

All of the staff speak very good English, and I would have no hesitation to recommend Victor and his team.

Due to different people requesting the knowledge of solicitors who have had success retrieving money from Huma at ACC (or one  of their other sites). I suggest people post their recommendations on this thread so the info is easy for people to find. Hope this helps people still in search of their monies. Good luck.

we successfully recovered our BGs through Victor at Mam solicitors, and at the time he mentioned that individually it wasn't worth going after the deposit or interest etc as Huma wasn't paying out court actions at that time, so even if we won we probably wouldn't get anything actually paid to us. He did say if things change and he had a number of clients chasing the deposits/interest/compensation, then he will consider starting such action. Having not heard from him in over 8 months, I am presuming his judgement of recovering monies has not change.

If a group action is started, let me know.

This email is being sent to Parador Properties Limited buyers of properties on Almanzora Country Club and Thabernax Oasis Country Club so you will receive this email no matter what your current contractual circumstances.

 
We were not going to release any information to Parador’s buyers until we had a clear positive indication that all the planning and financial matters had been resolved. However, over the past few weeks we have received many requests for up to date information so we have decided to present the information as we currently know it, as follows:-
 
ALMANZORA COUNTRY CLUB
 
Below you will find an extract from the Junta de Andalucia Report about planning policy in the Almeria region.  This is the document which deals with the land use allocation in Cuevas del Almanzora which was necessary before any further progress could be made towards agreeing planning matters at ACC. It was published on the Junta’s website page www.juntadeandalucia.es/
 
The translation is a web-based translation.  It is not an official translation.
 
The report confirms plans to allow the development of 1,900 new homes in the town of Cuevas del Almanzora.  The Junta had previously publically confirmed that ACC was part of this allocation.
 
Since the report was published, we understand that the town council have issued specific planning directives in connection with Almanzora Country Club.  We have not yet seen these documents but will report further when we have done so.
 
After such a long period of waiting, this is an encouraging stride forward towards seeing the Almanzora Country Club development receive the formal planning approval required by the Junta, albeit that it would appear to be on a smaller scale than was originally envisaged.
 
We must now wait for the town council to finalise the detail and give landowners and the public a timescale for reaching agreement and giving approval to all the projects, including ACC, held up in the town by the Junta’s intervention.
 
OASIS - THABERNAX COUNTRY CLUB, TABERNAS
 
Some purchasers of ACC transferred their contracts to the Tabernas project.  
 
Legal advisers acting for purchasers confirmed to them that TCC does have relevant planning permissions to enable it to proceed and work on the first phase commenced in 2008.
 
However, work has not progressed to the extent we were promised.  See below.
 
HUMA MEDITERRANEO
 
Because of the difficulties the company has faced due to the ACC planning problems, Huma have been in a situation during recent months where they could not contemplate a start back on site at ACC or developing the Tabernas scheme further.  They went public at the end of last year to say that they were in negotiation with another party to raise finance to enable them to move forward with both projects
 
As many Huma clients will have heard from their lawyers, the company has now agreed a building and development partnership which should see the Thabernax Country Club move forward towards a speedy conclusion over the coming months.
 
We assume, although we are awaiting clarification of this, that the partnership agreement will ultimately extend to Almanzora so that, once the ayuntamiento (town council) give the detailed permissions required,  work will be able to recommence to finish off what is already partly constructed.

What we have outlined above is the only information we currently hold.
 
It has been Parador Properties’ policy in the past to only report facts as and when they were able to confirm them.
 
We will continue with this policy.
