Thanks for the information.  No, we're 'only' coming over for a few months over winter.  Seeing your location, have you experienced any issues with the above?

Thread: Dogs vs caterpillars, sandflies and other maladies

Travelling in November with two pooches to Manilva via Bilbao, and I think I'm right in saying that I need to sort out the following bits;

  • Pet passport and other bits relating to the PETS scheme
  • Scalibor collars for sandflies, fleas etc
  • Avoid the processionary caterpillars
  • Keep them leashed & pick-up poo (as per the UK)

Do they need to legally be in cages for the trip or will doggy harnesses suffice? I'm getting various conflicting stories/info on this.

Many thanks

Thanks all :)

Nice website Rod, really like the presentation and layout. I check temperatures daily and already have people we know in Cabopino, so we're confident that we'll be better off.

Hi Guys

Just a quick introduction from me.  My wife & two dogs have been planning to get abroad over our UK's lousy Winter for years and we've finally got organised.  Everything has been cut back to basics and by carefully saving up, we can comfortably afford a good few months off so in Manilva.  The apartment is booked with deposits paid and we can now start ticking the weeks off until we pack our bags in October!

We are both starting Spanish lessons too, as we're really keen to try and maximise the whole experience.

I can't wait!!

Any advice or suggestions for things to do (and 'not' do) in the area during November and April will be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks
