Hi, Have just returned from Spain after meeting with Gotardo (managing Director of Palmera) after a phone call from out of the blue 2 weeks ago. Literally what he has said is that the reason nobody has heard anything from Palmera is because their customer services where so awful. He said the other partner has recently died and he has stepped in and sacked all the staff because they are rubbish! He says he is now trying to rectify all the problems caused by this poor customer service. We spent an afternoon with him and his assistant Pablo and they both came across as genuine and honest. He said that he had just heard (tuesday) that Urbasa had voluntarily declared bankruptcy.
We went to Formentera del Segura and were shown other properties which were more expensive than Amarion but only marginly and we were told they were being offered to us at a discount. The developments shown were completed and ready to move into.
This is all we know at present. I would definitely recommend you get in touch with Gotardo (he speaks perfect English) as he seems very genuine and keen to sort out the problems caused by Palmera. I questioned if he thought that Palmera could recover their reputation as they are now known as a company with dire customer services and he said he doesnt know but he hopes he can. I know we are all fed up with Palmera and their lies or at least lack of communication but I definately think it is worth talking to him because at the end of the day we all wanted a place in Spain and this is again an option. Good luck and hope this helps!
