Agreed.  I have found people on this message board to be most helpful with advice.  It has been useful to see the healthy range of opinions, through hopeful, uncertain and now improving times.

 When I know that dates are firming up, I will get myself out there.  It would be good to meet up.

I am looking forward to completion on an appartment in Block 2 Phase 1 - next door block, on the same road (currently under construction).   It was late 2003 when I put my deposit down.   I visited the site last Summer and was pleased with the place.  I am relieved to hear that people are moving in, snags are getting fixed, and pools are being brought into use. 

Given the unpredictable progress on Phase 1 over the years, I expect to be there sometime between May and September.

The licence being granted for some blocks in Phase 1 is excellent news for the development.

I am looking forward to getting the keys to my apartment in block 2, so I will remain patient. 

Yesterday I received the following from my solicitor :

With regards to the first occupation licence, we would like to inform you that the Local Town Hall (Urban Department) has verbally confirmed today the first occupation licence was partially granted the last 28^th of September 2007.

It has been obtained for the following blocks: 4-5-6-7-11-12.

I too have a 3rd floor apartment (well I will have when the licence comes through).  Block 2 in my case.  I had a valuation done by BBVA bank.  They valued it (including the store) around January 2007 at 222,000 euros.

Thanks Alan for passing on what you gleaned from Arenal.

I remain positive about the place we are all waiting to move into.   From the way Phase 1 is being finished, I can see no way that the local authority will stand in the way of buyers moving in.  They know that if they drag their feet too long, the place will not get any better than it will be very shortly.  There is nothing for them to gain by delaying licences for long.   Also from the finish going into Phase 1, it appears to me that Arenal and subsequent project managers remain keen to maintain their reputations.  So goodwill on all sides seems to be continuing.
