Can anyone put me in contact with an experienced arborculturalist in the Gandia area please - I suspect we have property movement through trees and hedges close to our property which have reduced the soil moisture content but dont want to wreck the property's privacy ripping out the hedges and trees any more than is absolutely necessary to protect the property.

Thread: Arborculturalist advice wanted in the Gandia area

We have owned a private villa in La Drova for the last 4 years - over the last 12 months or so there has been an occaisional seemingly random very bad sewage smell which comes and goes perhaps 3-4 times a day (including night time) at seemingly random areas of the village - complaints have been made to the local town hall and mayor seemingly to no avail - the cause/originating location is unclear - I suspect we need to bring in an environmental consultant to identify from where the problem is originating before the town hall will take the complaints seriously but are concerned this could prove personally expensive - any advice as to how we might sensibly proceed would be most welcome please.

Thread: Bad Smells!

Hopefully someone else has experienced a similar problem to us and can start us off in the right direction to stop our problem. We have owned a house in La Drova for about 4 years. Allegedly the house is tied in to a main sewage system which we understand runs from an old people's home down to the main road and an alleged sewage system (which very existance seems questionnable). Apparently few other properties are tied in to 'our' mains system and so presumably have their own individual septic tanks and other systems to dispose of their sewage. Over the last 12 months we have had some intermittent chokingly strong sewage whiffs lasting relatively short periods of time (up to 30 mins) at seemingly random times day and night - seemingly other parts of the village are also similarly effected but at differing times. We understand complaints have been made by english & spanish residents alike to the local Mayor without any apparent positive action following. It is rumoured that the sewage pipe into which our system is tied stops somewhere underground in the land adjoining my property, that it does not feed in to any mains system, that the pipe is illegal, and the town hall have a grant to install a sewage system and treatment plant but is not using it! There are even rumours that a mains sewage system does not even exist at La Drova. When the foul smell is apparent there is seemingly no physical sign from where it is originating.

How do we make an effective start to resolve this problem - if the town hall is inactive? - do the spanish have such a government department as Environmental Health, or similar? - if so might they be encouraged to show an interest? - where can I get factual reliable evidence of the sewage systems operating in La Drova - from whom can I get at least a basic environmental report prepared by an expert of which the authorities will take notice? any constructive suggestions/pointers welcome please.

John
