Just a minor point but whilst our house here in the Costa Blanca was being built we rented a villa that was on builder's supply which then went over to mains about half way through the rental period.  I have to say that the power and water goes off quite often in Spain, (apparently on a whim, with no warning to you even if they know about it!) whether it be builder's supply or the mains suppliers!  That's life in Spain and there isn't an awful lot you can do about it.  I've learned to leave my freezer empty when we go away because I've come back to a lovely mess one too many times now.  So personally, I wouldn't be too concerned about initially being on the builder's supply!!

Suzanne,

Whilst I can almost feel the excitement you are feeling at the thought of finally staying in your own apartment after all this time, I would check with your solicitor re the connecting of  water and electricity and when you might expect that.  Just a warning since when we completed at Casares we couldn't take up contracts for either until we had been to the Notary and then it took between 7 and 10 days for them to be connected.  It may be as well to have a hotel in mind just in case.
Regards

Once again I have been slightly negligent in checking this forum regularly mainly due to traveling about, being far too busy and the fact that the waiting got so tedious... I just kept my fingers crossed that it would all happen and fall into place ..... albeit eventually..... it was after all just a matter of time :o)   I am so glad to see that people have been notified of their completion dates.  I am really pleased that the waiting is over for a lot of us and that very soon people can begin to enjoy their apartments.  From the recent photos that were posted, the development looks fantastic to me.  Unfortunately I am one of those that has to wait a little longer since the disruption to the road affects my apartment block.

I really just wanted to say 'How gutted am I?' that Will is apparently 'making his way from the building' even if he is suggesting that he's still loitering at the door!  Once again I appreciate all the reasons you mention Will, but isn't it possible that once people start to move in and the last phase is finished that the prices will stabilise and begin to regain your previous valuation?  If you are set on going, I sincerely hope that once you get your deposit back you manage to negotiate and get a bargain deal on the apartment you are releasing - it may be well worth a try!  You are a true gent sir and will be sorely missed.... keep tuning in please and let us know how you get on.

Thanks too to Peps for the info re the compensation, I was wondering whether we would need to chase it up legally after completion, but if they are taking if off the purchase price, that will suit me very well.

Finally, one last wish - to everyone a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous 2008, G&Ts on the terrace don't seem so far away now!!

I would suggest that 'apathy' is what we should be more afraid of here, since it seems to me that those people who are interested in doing something are being slated for nothing. I appreciate that you have had a bad experience and wish to warn the Community of Owners about it (as I posted before.... fore-warned is fore-armed) but everyone is entitled to vote at the AGM (provided they are up to date with their Community payments - not my rules, but those instigated by the initial Management Company - but none the less a valid rule in my opinion) so with e-mails and forums such as these it is easy to let as many people as possible know what it going on.  At Casares Del Sol you either had to be present  at the AGM or apply  in advance to the Management Company for a proxy vote.

I agree that I don't want my hard-earned euros being spent on someone else's 'jolly time' in the bar even if they were discussing Community matters.  Being President of a Community of Owners is a thankless task, so I am always surprised and grateful when someone takes it on.  Whoever it will be will have my full backing and support  - as far as I'm concerned - no hogs allowed.  Might I suggest Melwell that you take an active position yourself if you are that concerned about it.

Once again I express my thanks to Will who is clearly  taking the trouble in advance to research into the costs and ways of keeping them down.

Just received the following from MRI

Here is the latest update for you regarding Arenal Duquesa.

Phase 1 and 2 are completed, and the following blocks 4,5,6,7,11 and 12 have been issued with act 16 habitation licenses, which is good news indeed. The remaining blocks in these phases are expected to have licenses in place in the near future. The remaining phases of the development are still under construction.

Should you have any questions or queries please do not hesitate to contact me.

With Kind Regards

I'm surprised that they haven't let all the solicitors know asap.  I'm in Block 16 so it looks like I fall under the banner of - and I quote :o) "the near future" . I especially like the bit that says "which is good news indeed" - Hallelujah!
