Hi Katie,
We had a house in Fuente de Piedra for 10 years. The village is very nice quiet village with plenty of bars and festivals in July /September. Theres buses to Malaga. and trains at Bobadilla about 10 miles away. It takes about 50 minutes to drive to Malaga or the beach. The village can get quite cold during the winter with frosts early morning and sometimes snow. In summer it can be quite hot with temperatures reaching 45 degrees. The village is safe but we did have a spate of burglaries on our estate although our house was ok. The local spanish in Fuente are very friendly and there are a number of english living in the village who have retired in Fuente. A very nice village but can be really quiet through the winter months.

Have just returned from Fuente de Piedra after staying for a week in my house getting it ready. Thought I would just update you. The road signs and house numbers have been fitted. Some famillies are moving in English and Spanish. The street lamps are in and working and the road markings painted. On Monday 24th Sept. a lorry load of trees arrived and planting has begun in the central green area. When I left on the 25th the green area was looking quite good with trees, lighting and pathways . Also it looks as though some flower beds are being prepared however work is still progressing . The weather was really hot in the high 20's except for last Wednesday night when there was an horrendous storm. On the whole the development is looking quite good. When doing snagging check your sinks as both mine leaked however Carlos the site agent sorted them in no time.

The website to obtain the NIE form is www.mir.es Click on "Extranjeros", "Modelos de Solicitud" download form "NIE para residentes en el extranjero" EX -14 bis. The form is in Spanish. If you need help filling it in please let me know. I have now received my NIE number and all is well.
