ACTIN, making changes for animals in Spain.

Animal care Treatment International Network has been set up to make changes for the animals in Spain, who suffer abandonment and cruelty. What we plan to do is to bring awareness of the problems to the world’s media. We need to promote education, new legislation and support neutering campaigns. It is necessary to get support Internationally to put pressure to bear on the Spanish government and to persuade them to take more responsibility for the lack of animal welfare in Spain. ACTIN plans in the future to bring about these changes through media awareness. Actin will tell the truth of how it is on an everyday basis, particularly in the country villages of Murcia, where there is a lot of ignorance and abuse. They will tell of what the volunteers deal with and how the abuse of animals is getting worse. ACTIN will endeavor to bring about campaigns for sterilization and education in schools. There is a need for a Society to protect the animals and this is what ACTIN aim to do in the future but we need much support to achieve our aims.

Please help Teddy, our blind Mastin rescue puppy
Sunday, April 27, 2014 @ 9:51 PM

I wrote, in part, about Teddy & Tony the Galgo in here

All about Teddy:- he is a pure Mastin puppy, already a big puppy at approx 15/18 kilos, and was bought to guard his owner's home. When he went suddenly blind at just 8 weeks old, his owner planned to take him to the Perrera, where he would have been put to sleep.

When we met Teddy we could not allow this to happen without finding out if his eye problems were curable and to obtain a diagnosis. We didnt want him to be just written off. He was such a happy boy, and so acceptant of his condition.

Our vet consulted an eye specialist in Murcia and it was diagnosed as congenital Glaucoma. there are two types of congenital glaucoma and one doesnt respond to treatment. After 3 weeks of treatment we realised that Teddy has the poor prognosis.

He is such a lovely boy and we have all got to know him, he is funny, confident and full of character and deserves a chance. Sadly, he has to have his eyes removed but we want to try for him.

We need help with his treament and ongoing care.

We are also looking for the perfect home and family for Teddy.

Please contact adoptions@adoptaspanishdog.com  if you are interested in adopting or fostering Teddy.

If you can donate to Teddy's treatment then please send to PayPal admin@actin-spain.com

At the moment Teddy's operation will cost 300 euros. His care and treatment so far has cost more than 200 euros.

If we raise more than we need, we will use funds for other dogs that we have taken in that need care.

For example Tony the Galgo who has a problem with his saliva glands, which must be removed and will cost 200 euros.

Please help us with Teddy and other dogs that we felt were worth a chance....

We have created Teddy's own Facebook page here so you can check his progress.
