Increase In Tobacco Prices

Hi
Unless I'm mistaken the 28% increase in tax on tobacco that everybody is talking about this weekend is going to be bought in to coincide with the forthcoming smoking ban (maybe) on the 2nd Jan.

Hi everyone,
G.V. was 48.50€ now 67.50€
amber leaf was 44€ now 63€
Thats just put the nails in the coffin of Spains tourist industry.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but i went down to the tabacconist this morning as i am going back to UK on 20th and wanted to take some tabacco home for my parents. I was gobsmacked when i saw the price increase, especially as it went up a similar amount only in June 2009.

Good news perhaps you will smoke less and live longer
The country can't afford it. Think of all those extra pensions, Winter Fuel Allowances and NHS costs. Plus, the roads in Spain are bad enough without even more disabled scooters and jet-propelled zimmer frames.

Sooner or later everyone dies, smoker or not. And will you stop talking about smoking! It's making me really feel like going out and buying a packet. Nothing worse for an ex like me to read about that horrible weed. And you don't even have the luxury of time to make it better. Speaking to a chap the other week who gave them up over 20 years ago (I'm only a novice ex) and he said he still felt like climbing the walls to get one.
