How long does a bond apply

 We sold sept  2009 , at a loss  (of course )  but thankful we no longer had to fly out , check tenants , clean the place , deal with burglaries  etc . When we sold all payments for cancellation of mortgage , land reg tax.

My query is we paid a bond of E.1.500 to pay back tax , bills from local council. . Our agent contacted the buyers lawyer after a year and he said ''Do not pay back the bond yet ''and he would enquire from his  client if the council have billed anything for the property . We converted a ruin . We had no  street lights. No electric. No dustbins . No road ...a track. We were never billed in the 8 years we were there by the council who obviously were aware of us . We were residents . We paid income tax , social security as we worked . How long am I expected to wait for the bond to be re-paid  or do we just say goodbye to that money .
