Sickness benefit

Hi,

I have paid social security through a number of contracted jobs in Spain during the past 15 years. I now find myself unemployed and my benefits have run out. If I were to become ill, and unable to work would I receive any sickness benefit?

As far as im aware no, the only way you would be in title to sick benefit is if it was a long lasting ilness that will not allow you to work for a very long period of time and its a realy nightmare to apply for and received, ive known people who have waite 5 years

Not only would the Spanish pay you no sickness benefit, they would probably want a word about your residency as that is normally conditional on you having health cover and being able to support yourself and your dependants financially.  Back to the UK looks like the best bet.

I have private health cover .. was just wondering about the actual sickness benefit .. anyway all ok for  now, thanks
