Can anyone offer advise.  We have a apartment which was rented out to two guys last year  a couple of months ago the guys lost their jobs and whislt we are sorry for them we told them that unless the rent was paid they would have to move out. One of the guys did just that but the other refused to move. We saw our solictor who sent him a recorded delivery letter which he as signeed for telling him had 5 days to leave the apartment. The first gentleman came in to see us last week and said his friend had gone to the Canary Islands so we entered the property and whislt there was clothing in the wardrode there was no sign of him so we asumed that he had done a runner and so we had all the locks changed. On Friday of last week we had a visit from the ploice who said the gentleman had made a complaint about us and that we had locked him out. We explained to them what had been happening and they asked for all the paperwork to show what we had done and seemed quite happy, however we have now foundout that the man as broken in to the property and as changed all the locks again so we can not gain entry.

Can anyone tell us if they have heard of any thing like this before and if so what happened.

Go to the local Police station and complete a 'denuncia' (formal complaint) on the man in question, stating all the facts and give copies of all the paperwork you have (take the originals also but keep them).

The Police have to act on this by law!

Ask that when the Police attend the property, that they do so in your presence, and make sure you have a locksmith with you.

As he has now gained illegal access, and changed the locks, he could find himself in serious hot water!
