Hello there,

Our penthouse apartment Block 5 is due for completion in December (hopefully). Can anyone advise on air condition for penthouses, we are thinking 1 air con unit living/dining area and ceiling fans in the bedrooms is this suffice? And any idea of cost and recommendations of installers?

Many Thanks

Shazzaf

Hi Shazzaf

Ceiling fans in bedrooms - will they keep the place cool enough?  It depends on a lot of factors - which way the room faces, outside weather conditions, how warm/cool you prefer to be ...

We have been at a property on N Costa Blanca with ceiling fans and the north facing room was fine in July/August.  The one facing west, I think, was too hot to sleep in.  This summer the rental property had fans but there were days when they were just circulating hot air and not really offering any respite.  We have spent a couple of summer holidays in Greece at a place with A/C (fixed at 24C) and it always felt like paradise after being out all day and sleeping was never a problem.

We are buying in block 6, and our bedrooms will be facing NW, roughly.  We suspect that it will be too hot for us to sleep in summer without A/C.  Having said that, we have the heating in our bedrooms turned down low in the winter and open the windows, even in sub-zero conditions!

I guess what I'm saying is, ceiling fans may be enough for some people, but not for others.  Personal preference, I suppose.

Diane
