Dear all,

Maybe someone can help me!!!!

Our neighbours have sail/shades on their balcony bought by Ikea.

I phoned/e-mailed Ikea in Holland but they don't deliver the sail/shades in Holland.

Our neighbour looked for me but the local Ikea there don't deliver at this moment.

Is there somebody in the UK who wants to look for me if the local Ikea can deliver the shades. The name of the product is 'Dining" and cost about 25 Euro. We are leaving to CdA at 30 March.

Maybe you can send it from the UK to my adress in Holland.

Best regards,

Onno

Have just checked IKEA uk website and they dont do them in UK, not much call for sunshades here even in the summer.  You can get them in the IKEA at the shopping mall in Murcia IKEA.

Sorry

Hi Onno,

They are still available in both the UK and Netherlands at Ikea - try DYNING and you should find them.

Google:- Solent Sail Shades, Southampton, UK.

Solent Sail Shades Ltd supply either ready-made sails or can make to order, then ship them out to you.

Kind regards,

Marcus

Hi

We too bought our sales from Ikea in the Uk.

However a word of warning.

Ham put ours up whilst we were over in March last year . when we wentover in june we were so glad we had them.

He used the pegs etc that are provided & he also purchased the tension spring loaded hooks (or what ever they are called)

We felt that he could not do any more but  we did not account for the winds etc late last year.

We recieved a PM from friends in Jardin 5 as they had called over to see if eveything was ok & reported that one of the sails had been pulled out of the pergola by the high wind.

A few weeks later Carol ( Angel babe) emailed me to say that the wind had been so strong it had ripped some of the fixings out of the wood & both sails were now torn & on the terrace floor.

We  were over again early December & noticed quite a few sails either torn to shreds or hanging llimply by one or two fixngs.

We chose the Hammock type & Ham fixed them so the ends over lapped inthe middle. Not that it made any difference

We have now chosen to have one of the retractable ones, similar to the ones Polaris sell but a hell of a lot cheaper.

Our Spanish friends gave us the telephone number of a very nice spanish man. who will be putting ours up for us by the time we go over on March 6th. He would not take any pay  & Ham had to force a deposit onto him. He quoted us 650euros in December & said he would not be asking for any more.

f any one is interested in his tele No  please Pm me or wait until our return on the 12th.  When I can I will let you know what we think.

jan

We used our Ikea last year (rectangle shape) and it worked fine. Attach it using spring loaded clips or whatever they are called. Do take it down when you leave though because of the winds and you should have no problems - and it's a"cheap" solution to the problem of finding shade.

Hi Chris

Yes you are so right.

If you do not mind takingyour shades down the Ikea onesare great & the spring loaded clips are ideal

We. (pleae note I am using the Royal we) however could`nt be bothered to put them up & take them down again hence the torn ones.

best of luck what ever choice you make

jan
