Hello everyone,
I went out to my beautiful apartment at Los Patios between 18th-23rd October. Upon arriving I was distraught to discover my apartment has damp in the rear rooms (mainly the master bedroom ensuite and the second bedroom). When I bought the apartment I had some snagging work done to remove a damp spot in the second bedroom, and believed everything was alright.
Sadly not.
Recent heavy rains in Mojacar had created a flood against the side wall of my property, indeed if you are at the development or visiting in the near future you can see where the torrential rains have seriously eroded the landscaping at the front of the development.
I have a new damp spot in my second bedroom, and all the woodwork in my ensuite has expanded due to water ingression.
I contacted my Solicitor in La Manga and instructed him to employ an independent building surveyor to look at the property and create a report of works to be carried out by the developer to remedy the problem. This was on the Monday, and by the Wednesday the surveyor arrived and carried out a full inspection. Although the report has yet to be written, he told me at the time there are issues with the damp course around the property and that works need to be carried out to stop the water from getting into the apartment BEFORE we can get the damp dried out inside. I was also advised to find out if anyone else has had or is having a similar problem to myself, so that we could get together and through my Solicitor approach the developers as a group to get all necessary works carried out.
I am aware a lot of people will be in Playa Macenas this week (half term) and may have made an unsettling discovery similar to myself. Please feel free to get in touch with me, Keith Hawkes. My mobile number is 07879 641261.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
