We were there from 2nd -9th April and the resort was starting to get busier as the Spanish Easter holidays approached. I would like to give more positive news but the resort itself in my opinion had not moved on in any way from when I was last there in October 2008. The Beach Club pool was open and the bar around the pool but there was no sign that the restaurant was to be opened upstairs and the gym was not up and running. As of the 16th April Janine and Isobel in the Sales office and Eva in the snagging department were all being made redundant along with the golf professional.
I had a long chat with Janine and it seems that earlier in the year a number of investors were in talks with the Med Group with regards to buying the place but this seems to have fallen through. Her opinion was that progress will be slow and that they had been selling one unit a week over the last 3 months. She informed me that the landscaping was due to commence and on the day we left a number of trees and plants had been delivered in front of the beach club so there seems to be some movement.
I had a number of small snagging issues which can I say were dealt with quickly and overall we still love the development and feel that if we can get through the next 2-3 years the resort will be fantastic. The location is wonderful and Mojacar still has the charm which first attracted us to it. The coastal area south of Carboneras is fantastic and the restaurants on the Playa are trying to accomodate the English with prices and deals for Menus of the day making it more affordable for your guests. I have guests staying in our apartment at the moment and their feedback has been very good. There only concern was that the electrics kept tripping so it looks as though I will need to increase the ampage in the apartment through Endesa. Any other feedback would be welcome.
