Credit and Debit cards

Last time I visited San Cayatano I used a preloaded MasterCard for purchases and cash withdrawals. Next visit I want to use an Abbey National Visa card for cash and a Barclaycard administered (Caravan Club) Visa card for purchases. I have been told that A.T.M.s and shops in Spain may refuse to accept them. Can anyone confirm or deny this please. Thanks in anticipation. J.P.R.

All shops in Spain won't take credit cards without some further ID which is strange as restaurants do. I carry my photo drivers licence with me as they seem to be happy to take my card with this. I use a Abbey Zero card as they don't charge you any costs to use this abroad and the exchange rate is slightly better than Intercash's rate.

I used my pensioners bus pass for further I.D. last time ! And it is an awful photo!! Thanks too for the Abbey zero pointer - I will investigate.
