New Discount Card From Polaris

ps - 1 hour lesson is €30 - so with that and the voucher for 50% reduction for 2 you are getting €85 worth, so card could actually be worthwhile.

I called the number and it seems that it is a company which is not particularly associated with PW but more with Intercontinental hotels (Hotelclub?).  I have forwarded their email to PW to check if it's legit adn if they are aware of the 'discounts' offered.  Will let you know the response when (if) I get one from PW.

Well I emailed Club Polaris about the FREE discount card as offered when we agreed to buy. And that they still offer on the PW members website, you will be suppressed to know they haven’t bothered contacting me back.

Has anyone received the free card recently or for that matter any additional information on the card they are now selling.

I happen to be an expert on this subject! After sepnding the last 6 weeks trying to obtain the "Free" card. I sent 5 faxes over a dozen emails and made at least 10 phone calls. Basically you have no chance whatsoever of getting a free card. If anyone is able to get one then they are better than me!

In the end I bought the 125 (plus Tax - 140 Euro) card from Club Hotel. It last 12 months. I have posted details of the benefits on this thread below. In summary you get 50% off all your meals (when 2 people dine) at any polaris restaurant on any resort. You get 10% off All drinks, you get 5% off at polaris stores and 25% off at Intercontinental Spas.

However the deal clincher for me was you get 1 night free in Intercontinental (MMGR or LTGR)inc breakfast for 2. You get a free 30 Minute golf lesson (  I have never played so should be fun ) you also get a free massage and a few other little perks. I figured the hotel stay, massage and lesson recouped the cost of my card. The discounts are then a big bonus.

I joined last week, my card hasnt arrived yet, but aparantly if I take in my confirmation email all the restaurants will honour the discount. I am coming over on Thu for the weekend, so will try it out.

I understand that most people will be put off by a fee of 140 Euros when they thought they would get a free discount card, but you simply have to calculate what the savings will be and make your mind up. In my eyes 3 or 4 half price meals in the Hotel and I am quids in.

Will be even better when the 2 new restaurants open in the Foro and I can dine there half price.

I just can't see how they can offer 50% discount at all restaurants for just 140 EUR, it may be the cynic in me but it just doesn't add up

A couple of meals and you get your money back, it's not viable surely?

I will know for sure next week when I am back, but to be honest the prices polaris charge, I think they could still make a profit at half price.

In fact its not entirely half price, they way the word it is "cardholder dines for free" so if 3 people dine it would only be a third off. Also remember you will probably purchase an overpriced bottle of wine with your meal and maybe a beer or two, which they will make a fortune on!

I have my doubts, but I will be going mad at when I get back if the discount isnt real! Here in the North West of England we have a discount card called Hilife (look it up), its only £40 per annum and this gives you 50% off all your meals at around 700 restaurants in the North West, yet they still seem to make a profit?

It really sounds like I work for these guys with all the positive things I am saying about them. However thats not the case, I am probably just trying to convince myself that I have not just wastes 140 Euros. I did call Polaris to check if all they were saying was correct and they said it was.

They also claimed that the discounts would help fill up the restaurants, which in turn would then encourage other people to open restaurants in Polaris World developments??? I pointed out that simply reducing their prices would have the same effect, but she didnt seem to grasp that concept.

Darren thanks for your thoughts, just one thing, is it not worth you waiting until the Foro is up and running otherwise surely your card is worthless until the restaurants are open? apart from the hotel offer !

If the restaurant offer is 50% for the duration of the card then I think it would be worth buying and this along with the other discount the card would pay for itself. However I am sceptical with PW track record of moving the goal post, other than the promotional offers information you have previously posted have they provided you with any T&C or a Contract stating you will receive these benefits during the 12 months life of the card, if you have could you post or PM what it says. I know from personal experience that PW regard promotional materials as a guide only and will not except they form part of a contract even if stating this it may be illegal, but they know as individuals we cant afford to take them to task on this.

It also seams from post on the forum that outlets can just decide not to accept the card as and when they like (The Surgery for one). The benefits from the free card wasn’t as good as this new card is saying it will offer but at least we hadn’t had to pay out money for it, well other than the hundreds of thousand for our properties. I hope you are able to report back that you are receiving all the benefits offered and yes will you forward me a PM with the contact detailed you mention.

Dan I agree fully. I booked to come out for 4 days in April and again in May with my girlfriend. Now if we want to go for a meal at the moment it involves me driving (bummer), so I figured with the discount a meal at the Intercontinental will probably cost me a simlar amount to a meal at camposol. I know my carbon footprint will be bigger (100km round trip), but it will be a nice treat.

However if you dont facny the traveling, wait till july (think thats when its due to open) when the Foro is up and running and get one then, in the mean time I will test it out for you guys and let you know if its worth it.

sorry guys, going to have a blonde moment here - is the card you are all talking about the Polaris World Club card that you applied for - each owner was supposed to get one!

I have one and have just come back from 2 week holiday and used it in the surgery and got 10% off couple rounds of drinks.  Is this the card that gives you 50% off meals and all the benefits at the Intercon hotel

Where do you find out what the benefits are - being Scottish hate to miss out on a bargain

Hi Viv - No - it's another card which you pay €125 for but which also gives you great discounts as well as a free night's b and b at either MMGR Intercontinental or the new La Torre Intercontinental.  Both cards are probably worth having but we a re all waiting with baited breath for the first user of the €125 card to return from Spain and tell us if it worked or not!!!  ie - did he get all the discounts promised.   Byeeeee
