Previous readers of these threads will know that we understood that Iberdrola had managed the changeover of our electricity supply on 23rd of December and that we visited the apartment  from 26th - 31st December. During that time we used every electrical item many at the same time. We experienced none of the 'tripping' , so commented by many others on the forum, until shortly before we left the apartment on the 31st.

However reading those comments made me anxious ( this isnt difficult- ask Carol) about future use of the apartment so I tried to find out about an upgrade and spoke to a very helpful woman at Iberdrola who suggested we have the size of the fuse checked as it should be 25amp not 15amp. Carol did this check for us and found that we had no Iberdrola fuse fitted in the apartment- despite a connection bill from Iberdrola!!.

I then emailed Polaris to be told to take it up with Iberdrola and spoke to a very, very grumpy woman at Iberdrola who insisted quite forceably that ' you are connected, the apartment has been broken into and the fuse stole' over and over, and ' You contact Polaris' she also suggested we get an electrician to sort the problem.

The thought of a burglar prowling Alhama leaving no trace, but stealing individual fuses didnt seem real to us! Employing an electrician didnt sit well with what we had been told previously about tampering with the fuse boxes.

So we turned to Carol and I want everyone to know that she worked above and beyond her role as our keyholder by sprinting gazelle like back and forth across the resort between the call centre and our apartment (amongst many others) to get PW to see what had happened and to get Iberdrola workmen to access our apartment.and fit the fuse. Carol found that the workmen had done the work in the outside connection box but had never touched the inside fuse box. Thankfully we are now truly connected  and will await our next visit to see what problems a 25amp fuse holds in store for us- before having Carol put her running shoes on again to sprint around the resort in order to manage our upgrade!! One bonus is that PW financed all that Christmas electricity and I know many would say that could have continued but one day soon our garden would have the PW power turned off and as they thought we were connected to Iberdrola that would have icluded us- try unravelling that months down the line and from afar.

Three cheers for Carol, we cant recommend her highly enough!!!!!

We recommend you check your fuses- we doubt we are alone in this problem.

PS: Carol hasnt been able to visit the forum recently due to a difficulty accessing the internet.

Hi Jan,

We totally agree with you we can't recommend Carol highly enough.

As everyone on this forum has probably read we are having problems with recurring damp at the moment.

Carol is now on the job and is keeping an eye on the builders for us.  When our key was held with Polaris last time the damp was reported we get the impression nothing much was done apart from a lick of paint.  Now we have Carol on the job.  She has just telephoned tonight to say that Polaris have now lifted the tiles on the steps to the solarium, applied additional damp proofing and replaced the plasterboard under the stairs and in the bathroom.

On the first day they made a bit of a mess so she complained to the workers.  Next day she came in to find everything was clean and there was a nice smell of disinfectent.

Well done Carol.  Keep up the good work.

See you soon

I wouldn't have said anything about the rcd not being installed in the apartment, as long as the meter has been fitted and connectedm you wouldn't have had any problems with the rcd trippng out, and as you say you could use all your appliances, The elect company won't know what rcd you have in your apartment only what they have put in the meter cupboard.

Iberdrola had recorded that we were connected and sent us the connection bill but had left us on buiders supply.

We just wanted it sorted and didnt want someone in the apartment when PW pull the plug on our Jardine. Before too long they will turn the power off to the Jardines they believe to be connected to Iberdrola and anyone who hasnt arranged to be connected or if there has been an error, as in our case, would have no electricity.  Yes, this could be a little way ahead but the further from the actual changover we felt the more difficult to get it sorted.  PW know who Iberdrola have connected- they were able to quote the date of connection without sight of the bill.
