My son has recently passed his private pilots license and is now looking to build up his volume of hours before he can go onto do his commercial license.

Does anyone know of any english speaking airfields around the Murcia area who rent planes out for hours building or any training schools in the area. We have an apartment in Condado De Alhama, so accomodation wont be a problem if theres anywhere where they do block bookings for hours building.

Are there any training schools flying out of San Javier?

We've been looking for car hire for the summer and find Hertz (who use Solmar) to be one of the cheapest from Murcia airport. The only downside I can see to using them is that there are additional charges for the second driver and that you're liable for the excess which can be up to 600€. We've had cars through Solmar before without any problems, but not booking it through Hertz direct.

Obviously the additional costs with DYS & Economy etc include the 2nd driver and no excess but Hertz seem cheaper if there is only one driver.

Has anyone booked through these? Were there any more hidden charges (apart from the fuel)? Has anyone taken out a yearly excess liability insurance to cover themselves and did they experience any problems showing this to Car Hire companies?

We completed on Jardin 5 in July and are extremely happy with our purchase.

We went over in November to furnish and it turned out to be more straight forward then we expected. 

If you haven't already done it, have a look on the Condado de Alhama off plan development forum.  There are loads of tips on where the best places are to get furniture etc.  We got our sofa from Polaris, furniture from Zbedz and had numerous trips to Ikea and Primark.

Many people we know have used real domestic appliances for electrical items.

We have just had our first payment taken out of our account from Iberdrola for our electricity.

Although it doesn't seem too bad we wanted to check on the website to see what the standing charges were.  We started to register for ebilling but you need your account number and 2 surnames.  We presume the account number is the one listed on the bank statement but not sure what to do about the surnames.

Can anybody help?
