Beware - Bathroom Vent

Hi everybody

Just returned from Condado after spending Christimas over in our apartment.  We kept noticing a funny smell in bathroom a bit like drains. So decided to put a smoke test in the bathroom and guess what the smoke still stayed there. So I then took the vent off the ceiling and discovered it was just venting into the void in the ceiling part and not actually going into the venting stat through to roof.  We have the downstairs 3 bed apartment and the vent was on the opposite side to the bathroom taps and whilst speaking to someone else who was putting an extractor fan in, his vent was over the bath tap side and his was actually ducting into the venting stat.  So we reported this to snagging department and they said they will sort it out for us. Just dont take it for granted that the vent is doing its job. Its best to check.

Hi, we have also just returned from a week at Condado and we had a real problem with a horrific smell in our 2 bed-roomed appartment.  We noticed the smell in October also but this time it was worse.  The smell was in the main part of the appartment though and not the bathroom and we suspect the vent in the kitchen area is exactly the same, not doing what it should, not vented the way it should.  We got the workmen out and they are hoping to sort this week, opening a vent into the roof terrace.  The worrying thing though was that the two facings above the bedroom windows have discoloured badly and the foreman said this was due to the bad fumes in the appartment.  My husband was violently sick one day and we are hoping that it was not as a result of the fumes.  All our clothes we have brought home smell really badly too.  Customer Svcs said this was really uncommon so we're hoping that none of you have this problem.

I was out just before xmas to check on snagging completion and the smell in the bathroom (2 bed on los naranjos) was horrible. Mentioned it to the snagging girl and made it clear by follow up email that we wanted it sorted out (along with a couple of other things). Would like to get confirmation of the reason for the smell.
