Does anyone have any photos to show what can be done in the basement area?  I've heard lots of ideas, but think I've only seen one example.  Also be great to know who did them for you (and approx costs if not too cheeky!).  Has anyone put an external door downstairs in al albatros - is it possible?

Thanks folks, Jane.

Hi Jane

PM me and I will send on phots of our albatros basement.

To say it totally transforms the house is not an understatement (excuse the pun)

We got 2 large bedrooms, 1 with walk in wardrobe, both with huge ensuites, c/w showers, WC and basin unit/storage/mirrors

Plus an additional huge living room and extra storeroom.  This was done by Steve Amber, who I must say did a fantastic job, did the grills at the same time and also a few other jobs, like removing the bidet in the upstairs wc which makes the room much bigger.

PM me and I will tell you the costs.

If you think that Jasons underbuild is good, then you would be amazed at the underbuild that Mark the builder has done, it is out of this world and a lot less money than Amber.  Just thought you'd like to know.  He did a good job for my friends.

Is a permit required to alter an underbuild?

Hi there

yes, a permit is required.  As it is already built, the permit is required detailing any changes, ie:  are you installing a toilet, additional internal walls etc, however a structural permit is not as it was given in the original building permit.  We ensured we got all the paperwork before paying the final payment from the builder and had it checked out after receiving it by our lehal team.  Al checked out 100%.  In fairness to Steve Amber, he said it would, and he even applied for additional work on the permit, paths outside, grills etc to save money, all were passed., didnt harm to check though..
