Hi All,

I'm looking into importing rattan patio furniture from Indonesia, the company I have quotes from is the same company as used by Arlene(AJW).
If I can get enough ordered to fill a 20' container I will go ahead and order. The company is javathebest.com and the stuff I'm looking at is on the rattanpalace site. I've got quotes for Zetta table and chairs, Lido Sofa 2+1+1+ 2 tables and the Muggary Sofa x 2  with table and stool.
There are photos on Condado dated 22nd Sept (94483 + 51855) also www.alhamagolfapartment.co.uk (I have kind permission from Arlene to mention this).
I'm not out to make any profit, just to receive some nice furniture at a reasonable price.
If anyone is interested please get back to me or give me a PM

Paul.

Hello Paul

I am very interested in a sofa 2 chairs and a table and was going to look out in Spain next year, but realise the furniture from Indonesia is much better value.  Please could you let me have an idea of price.  Many thanks.  We are in Jardine 12.

Ruth

Paul,

Cannot post the PM yet, although I have just e-mailed EoS for permission. Interested in your container idea, as have seen Arlenes apt on Condado and will be in touch as soon as we can.

Hi all

I shared a container with Arlene and am going out this weekend  to our apartment to see my  furniture for myself.  After seeing Arlenes and pricing the same things back here in Ireland I think we have got some great furniture for a fraction of what it would have cost us to buy in Spain.

The stuff is really good quality, but beware, the inside furniture can be quite big so watch the measurements - I am having to sell my two single beds coz they are a tight fit in second bedroom!  But am so glad we furnished our apartment this way rather than pack- could never have afforded the outside stuff I got.

Happy shopping

Hi Tam

Am over next week so will give u guided tour and let you know what we paid for our stuff

For example (and by the way havent seen it in flesh yet!) but table and 6 chairs we bought for 800 dollars complete was for sale in an upmarket garden centre near us (Powerscourt House) - the table alone was 2000.00 euros!  Arlene had the joy of dealing with the Balinese but after the order went in the shipping was easy - have great contact for shipping agent and haulier and everything went very smoothly.

See what u think next week

Viv

I was getting quotes for the lighting today and even the girl in told me to bring a brolly lol sounds a bit like home  just had a look at the forcast for there, which did say that the rain was going to stop tomorrow but is now showing rain for tomorrow and Sunday. The only difference between there and home is about 10oc, ah well at least it will be warm rain

Hi to all,

I've had great response to this post so now I need some help, can anyone advice a save way I can take payment from people who are willing to order furniture and so they have piece of mind, I know it's hard to give money to someone you have never meet.

At the moment I'm working offshore in the Gulf of Mexico and won't be home until the 14th of Nov, going across to Condado on the 24th of Nov.

Just to give everyone a break down of the costs involved
The price of furniture on the website is subject to 5.6% duty( This is on rattan furniture?) 16% vat.
Shipping costs to Condado include - Bunkering and Currency added factor, Wharfage, ISPS, B/L, Cleaning ,Agency Fee's, duty and Vat.
I have divide the cost by 28 cubic meters(CBM) a full container load to give approx $130usd per CBM
Example - Lido 2 seater sofa x 2 + 2 tables = 1.48CBM x$130 = $192.00 for Shipping + duty + vat
Total $718usd    The shipping figure is approx because of the changing oil price.
I hope this makes sense.

Paul.

I am glad that myself and Viv are 'guinea pigs'!!!  It is quite stressful and a lot of work getting the order in and correct and I would strongly advise that only 3 - and at the very max 4 people - get involved per container.  It does involve a great deal of trust and a very clear understanding that Paul is in no way responsible for any missing items etc or slight product changes etc, etc.  They were pretty much bang on with our stuff but missed 2 of my outside dining chairs (sent 4 instead of 6) and missed off 1 bedside table.  But since we were paying about £15 for the bedside table and £20 per chair - we just laughed it off.  We did save a fortune and the stuff is gorgeous - and very robust.  Both me and Viv are chuffed to bits with it all.
