Hi Margaret,

Here's one (toll free) option....

From St Javier take the C-3119 dual-carriageway following signs for Murcia.

This eventually joins the A-30 motorway after about 30km, at the A-30 go southbound following signs for Cartagena.

After about 15km take the MU-602 motorway following signs for Alhama de Murcia. Continue for about 50km.

Just before you come to Alhama de Murcia take the RM-23 motorway (previously the MU-603) following signs for Mazarron.

After about 10km the Condado de Alhama exit is signposted.

Should take about an hour.

Good luck and have fun.

A slightly different route initially, it's the one we take ......

Leave the airport, and join the AP-7 Southbound (it's actually exit 784)

Come off at exit 790 and head towards Torre Pacheco on the F-30 (you'll drive past the Z-Bedz showroom on the left).

Go straight ahead through the first 2 roundabouts (the 2nd is the turnoff for PW Mar Menor resort). You'll then pass the red Barcelo hotel on the left. At the 3rd roundabout turn right. This road is a bypass of Torre Pacheco and is signposted 'A-30' and ultimately leads you to the A30.

You will reach a large new roundabout by the 'Chicken Factory', a very tall building with a chicken on top  that can be seen some miles away !  This is the A30 roundabout - right is Murcia, left is Cartagena, but you need to go straight ahead onto the RM2-A7. This is a new road that replaces the MU-602  mentioned by Pauline, in fact I'm not sure if they are one and the same road.

Stay on this road until you meet the RM-23 and then follow sign for Mazarron.

Come off at the Condado de Alhama exit.

We did this between 50 and 55 minutes without breaking the speed limits.  It  is also toll-free.

So at the point where Pauline says 'take the MU-602 motorway following signs for Alhama de Murcia' it is the same route from then on.

Good luck !

Hi Margaret,

I did basically the same route as Pauline, but cut the corner off.  From the airport head north on the motorway AP7 north, towards alicante, Murcia.  The first exit is the C-3319, take this towards Murcia.  This takes you past the main Polaris office.  Take the exit immediately after the office - the F12 heading for Roldan and Balsapintada - keep on this road (don't go into Roldan), past the back of Le Torre (and the new School), until you get to the A30.  Head south towards Cartagena, again just for 1 exit, and come off onto the RM-2 - as per the previous posts - it is 31km on this road, until the RM-23, and then 5km down that road to Condado.

Hope that helps.

Ted

Yes - I think for a first visit the AP-7 may be a bit easier (even though you need to pay around 8 euros in tolls).  Simply follow the signs on the Ap-7 for Cartagena then Almeria.  Take the Mazarron turn off then immeditely onto the Totana road for around 15kms.  This is the main road out from Mazarron to Condado.  Take the junction 11 exit off this road and Condado perimeter is about 600m from here on the right..  Another slip road is signposted  thereafter specifically to the entrance to Condado.

Hi
We usually fly into Alicante so know the route to CdA fromthere well however...
My brother is flying into San Javier and would like exact directions from San Javier Airport to Jardine 9!!! He is more than likely to get lost!!

Looking at the posts - Pauline suggested this route which seems straightforward and toll free:

From St Javier take the C-3119 dual-carriageway following signs for Murcia.
This eventually joins the A-30 motorway after about 30km, at the A-30 go southbound following signs for Cartagena.
After about 15km take the MU-602 motorway following signs for Alhama de Murcia. Continue for about 50km.
Just before you come to Alhama de Murcia take the RM-23 motorway (previously the MU-603) following signs for Mazarron.
After about 10km the Condado de Alhama exit is signposted.

Can anyone add more detail to these directions to make them foolproof and hence save me lots of grief?

Yours
Eternally grateful!

Just make sure he takes the exit signed 'Bahia de Mazarron' as it can be a bit confusing at that last bit.

Hi

I got this directions from Debbie and we tried them out 2 weeks ago, it only took 40 mins from airport. I now have it laminated so this is the ne for me

·       Leave airport and follow signs for AP7 Cartagena.

·      Join AP7 at slip road signposted for AP7 Cartagena (blue and white sign) and travel on AP7 for a short distance (to exit number 790)

·       Leave AP7 at Exit 790 signposted for Torre Pacheco.

·       Keep following signs for Torre Pacheco – you will pass the Polaris World Garden Centre on your left.

·       Shortly after the PW Garden Centre, you will come to a roundabout – go straight on (F30 Torre Pacheco).

·       You will immediately see the building work for Phase 2 of the Mar Menor Golf Resort on the right and a red hotel with white dots on (Barcelo Torre Pacheco) on the left.

·       At the next roundabout, take the A30 turning, sign-posted for Murcia/Cartagena.

·       Continue on the A30 and at next roundabout take the second right turn.  (Note – the first sign on approach to the roundabout says A30 Murcia/Cartagena but the sign at the turn-off just says El Jimenado – don’t panic, this is the right road!)

·       Follow the main A30 road through the village of El Jimenado.

·       Shortly after you leave the village, you will see a tractor garage on the left and a tall white building on the right with a red and blue stripe and a chicken on the top!

·       Shortly after the chicken factory, you will reach a major roundabout.

·       Take the second exit, signposted RM2/A7 Alhama de Murcia and Andalucia.

·       Travel on the RM2 for approximately 30 km.

·       Look out for sign for RM23 Mazarron/MU603 El Palmar – take this exit.

·       Go right round the roundabout to the last exit (3rd exit) which is signposted RM23 Mazarron.

·       Take second exit off RM23 (exit number 7) signposted for Condado de Alhama.

·       Go right round the roundabout, take fourth exit up the palm tree lined boulevard into Condado de Alhama.

I have never tried this route but I did hear someone comment when I was over last week that the instructions from Debbie were 'spot on' and idiot proof.  I will definately be trying them next visit (in fact I am printing them off as I type!)

Interestingly in the Polaris brochure for Condado it says San Javier International airport is 25 minutes away !

Do you think Yves Rossy did the research ??

This idiot is landing at 8pm tomorrow night, on his own, not having been out there for over 2 years, roads are all different and on my only visit to the Condado site before there was nothing but a sales office on the side of a road.......... but hey, you always experiment on your own to start with

I'm just going out, I could be some time ............. wonder if Kev will give a discount for 1 night's less stay.
