Living with the Presidente.

A tongue in cheek account of living with the Presidente, OR how to survive and extended 'family' of 183.

Sad start to 2009..............................
Thursday, January 29, 2009 @ 2:54 PM

2009 has got off to a sad beginning for El Presidente and Moi.

As you know, we went to the UK on the 13th January this year. The evening after we arrived, El Presidente's Dad had a massive heart attack. I was in the room with him and Peter phoned for an ambulance and they arrived pretty quickly and spent some 20 minutes ressussitating him. When we got to the hospital they told us there was no response from him although he was breathing on his own and that it was only a matter of time. He died two days later.

He was 92 and although his sight was impaired he insisted on living on his own and took care of himself with a little help right until he died. He was a lovely man.

El Presidente's Mum died last August, she was 87. They had been married 63 years.

I know that they were getting on and that they had had a good life but it is still tragic and El Presidente and Moi miss them both.

My condolences to you both Karen.
No matter what your loved ones age, the loss is just as great and as deeply felt.
Although it must have been upsetting and a shock for you both at least he was not alone and you were not feeling helpless living thousands of miles away in Spain.
Best Wishes,
Sandra

Sorry to hear your news. Fate is a mad thing that you decided to go back home at that time! As others said, at least you was with him and could be with him.
If anything at least he lived a long and independant life to the end and never suffered too long.

See you all in a few weeks.

Sorry about your loss Karensun. You'll always miss them, but you obviously have some lovely memories as you speak so fondly of your in-laws.

My condolences too, Karen & Peter. At least you had both of Peter's parents for a long time. (Both my parents sadly passed away aged 70 & 75). I realise that it doesn't spare you the heartache of losing them & within a short time too.

So sorry to read about your loss. Hopefully you will find comfort from knowing you were there to look after him when he needed it and in the long memories you have over such a number of years.
