Galgos del Sol (Murcia) makes saving galgos in Spain a reality!

Sunday 3rd April: Risco arrived from the killing station today. He is so sick, Tina had to call the emergency vet and he has now been admitted to stay with the vet. He arrived with a high temperature and finding it difficult to breathe!

Early, Tuesday 5th April: Risco is critical, the vet is very worried.

Oh, bless him. This makes me so sad. I have a dog and he's very precious to me. At the moment we are struggling for money here in Spain but as soon as we're back on our feet, I will send a contribution to you.
I'm truly sorry that I can't help NOW but hope that someone else on EOS will.
I am willing Risco to live and that he finds happiness.

Galgos del Sol is a small rescue based in Murcia, Spain that rescues abandoned and injured galgos (Spanish hunting greyhounds), rehabilitates them and finds them forever homes in the UK and other parts of Europe. Thousands of galgos are abandoned or killed annually at the end of each short hunting season and as they are not always viewed as potential pets in Spain, they usually end up in perreras (pounds), where their lives are ended, often not in ways we would consider humane. Galgos del Sol is entirely dependent on fundraising for its survival and is run by two dedicated women, Tina and Gaynor, assisted by a group of dedicated volunteers based in Spain, France and in the UK. Galgos del Sol es una pequeña protectora con sede en Murcia, España, que rescata galgos abandonados y heridos (galgos españoles de caza) y los rehabilita y les encuentra hogares para siempre en el Reino Unido y otras partes de Europa. Miles de galgos son abandonados o asesinados cada año al final de cada temporada de caza y como en España normalmente no los consideran mascotas por lo general terminan en perreras, donde acaban con su vida y a menudo en formas que no consideraríamos muy humanas. Galgos del Sol depende totalmente de donaciones para su supervivencia y está gestionado por dos mujeres muy involucradas, Tina y Gaynor, con la asistencia de un grupo de voluntarios con sede en España, Francia y en el Reino Unido.
