The new webpage is finally live. Can't believe it, so so so happy. HUGE HUGE thanks to Marylou Hecht and Erin Witzel of Dyad Communications, Inc in the USA we are so grateful for all your hard work on this, will see you in 6 weeks but wish i could reach thru the screen and hug you.

Massive thanks also to Brian Hughes of Ibizan Hound Rescue, as always a big support to GDS. Great appreciation to Diane Hughes of Ibizan Hound Rescue as well for her stellar photographic skills.

Another four rescued galgos leave Galgos del Sol, Spain for new homes in Belgium

Galgos del Sol, Murcia, has fast become a big name in Spain for rescuing galgos & rehoming them in Belgium to name one country, there are so many, including the USA.

This morning another four left Murcia to fly from Alicante. Two of Greyhounds Rescue Belgium volunteers, Ineke & Kim, have been staying with Tina, President of GdS, helping her & today they took Cereco, Palomo, Sapphire and Lorenzo from Alicante airport to Belgium.

Princessa saltó por encima de nuestra cerca, el 2 de febrero de 2013, que está en algún lugar en las Balsicas, Torre Pacheco zona Roldan y está muy asustado. Ella está en la medicación y tenemos que encontrarla lo antes posible.
Princessa es una galga atigrada, ella lleva un collar morado, y un abrigo rosado púrpura cuando desapareció
ella no sabía su nombre pero
ella no es todavía microchip ya que sólo ha estado con nosotros unos días y ha sido muy mal ya que ha sido tratado por lesiones internas, incluyendo un pulmón colapsado

Tina's devastated after all that's happened to Princessa this past week. She was thrown, with another galgo, into a 30 metre depth well then Tina's vet said he believed she was ok apart from cuts & Tina took her home then Princessa started losing lots of blood & couldn't breathe well.

Tina raced her & the other galgo up to Alicante's San Vincente's veterinary hospital who said she had a collapsed lung & internal injuries. She was in there 2-3 days then Tina took her home.

Who would've thought an ill galgo could possibly jump a 2m fence with two rows of barbed wire on top?

We will also be moving premises soon and are in need of plastic kennels, wooden kennels, corregated roofing, sheds, dogs beds, bedding, towels etc.

We have taken on many new galgos recently & just haven't the room at our current premises.

Fleur, approx 3 months old, needs a loving home

Galgos del Sol, Murcia currently have MANY galgos needing loving homes. These dogs have either been rescued from hunters who are abusing them after the hunting season or picked up wandering around, starving & risking getting run down by traffic.

Just in time for Christmas the 5th billboard goes up in Pilar de Horadada

So just in time for xmas here we have the 5th billboard up, we, together need to be their voice, we hope you like what you see, it has taken A LOT of teamwork to get this one up.

This billboard has been bought outright and put up in the town of Pilar de Horadada right at the top of the busy highstreet C/Mayor. This town has seen a problem with dog abandonment hence why we chose this location. However there are still many more locations to hit hard yet.

FINCA MONTANA XMAS DOG SHOW in Almoradi in aid of Galgos del Sol and The K9 Club. Come and join us it will be a great laugh, raising money for two worthy charities.

It will be on Sunday December 2nd, gates open at 10am, judging from 12 onwards. Bring a ringside viewing chair so you can CHILLAX!

Catagories will be Best sporting dog, Non sporting, Puppy, Junior,Open dog, Rescued Dog, Veteran, Fancy dress, prettiest bitch, handsome dog, dog who looks most like its owner and waggiest tail. Castrated and non-castrated dogs are allowed to enter at 10 euros per entry.

To come to the dog show is 1 euro per person and you get a raffle ticket for that also. BBQ and bar also, oh come on... is this tempting enough.. its gonna be great fun. We will be having a tombola also. There be all sorts of goodies, raffle, stalls, VET TABLE and lots of beer!!! Hope to see you there guys!!!!

GREAT NEWS regarding donations for the billboard campaign

This is amazing....

people from all over are donating towards having billboards erected not solely in the Murcia area but other areas too, thanks to groups of people coming together to fund this, charities & individuals. Hopefully - in the not too distant future - billboards asking people to cherish not discard or abuse dogs will be in many areas.

We still need donations as this is an ongoing project & we have just started...

Once the designs have been sorted & have been made there are monthly costs to keep the billboards erected. GdS has had land donated so we can put billboards on that too.

Who would have thought this would have taken off so well, thanks to all who donate towards this. It is exciting!

Have just sent Tina a donation for the billboard campaign. So happy to do this. And this is how I did it ........I calculated all the money I would spend on Xmas presents and sent it to GdS. Then organised cards to send to my friends explaining that their gift from me this year is a donation to GdS, and included some background info on GdS and their mission. Not many people here in Australia know about what happens to the galgos.

In the cards I asked that my friends donate to GdS, or a grey rescue group here in Oz, rather than giving me a Xmas gift. I included a photo of Lucy and Tilly the retired racers I adopted this year, on the front of the card and that's it! All done.

If you think this is a good idea, give it a go. My friends love it - I have done it before with other dog groups here in Oz. Most of us don't need any more "things" anyway, except the littlies of course. But even the teenagers love it. And as an added bonus, I have now finished my Xmas "shopping" all in one day. The galgos need care and support and people need to be educated. This is a good Xmas present to give.

Old man, Lucky, needs a loving home & a quiet life in Spain NOW!

Lucky, this sweet old man, needs a quiet life NOW!

One more push for Lucky please. Its not his fault he ended up in a galgo rescue, not many could tell he's not a galgo but seriously he isn't... not many options for him here at Galgos del Sol.

Approximately 7yrs old, castrated, great with other dogs. He had a little liver trouble but that has been treated. We can only re-home in Spain as we dont have a back up abroad for this type of dog and we cant send without a back up. Sorry.

COME ON peeps where is his home in Spain????
