We have just had renewal through by Intasure and it's £175 for both buildings & contents. Not really got anything to compare it to but seems reasonable. Trouble is you only find out if they are good when you make a claim.

A post on the HR community website says it is setting up a discounted deal for buildings Ins for owners.

If I had to furnish our apartment now I'd definatly buy in the UK and ship things over. Things in Spain are more expensive and that's before the euro got stronger. We bought ours in Feb08, and I recon I could have saved 3k by buying in UK. Costs about £1500 to ship it over.

Careful when buying beds as the bedrooms on HR are quite small and UK single beds are too big, so worth getting those in Spain. We got all our furniture at DFS, San Javier, who were very professional and as good as anyone if you decide to buy in Spain. Very convenient and they fit all lights, curtains etc.

A UK company to be avoided are Villapak, based in Bolton and Milton Keynes, terrible experience with them.

cheers

Gary

Cheap furniture will not last if you are renting but at the same time there is no point in going for expensive. Ours cost £6000 to furnish and thats with leather suites which are very hard waring. We got the major items from one store, suites, beds, tables, units, then did the rest ourselves

Good Luck

Be very careful when using VILLAPAC.

I have read on several forums that they tie you into a contract and not flexible  if you want to make changes. On member of the forum lot their £350 deposit as they wanted to make changes from their initial order. We visited the showrooms in Milton Keynes., They seemed OK but got the feeling the price depended on how much the sales people could wangle out of you.

Good Luck
